Hi, I've seen a Saab 99 for sale for a reasonable price in the north of Scotland

My original plan was to buy it, insure it and book it in for an mot here in Dunfermline then drive it home but the seller is being difficult and insists it's a trailer home job...

It apparently runs quite well, has covered very little miles in the last few years but hasn't been serviced in a good while and has old tyres on it.

I think the seller is reluctant to let me drive it away in case it breaks down etc.

Anyway, I've not got any kind of trailer/A frame setup at the moment and I'm guessing a recovery from my mate would be in excess of £200.

Anyone on here able to help in some way?

Why dont you hire a mover to take it to a nearby town and then drive the rest of the way?

If you've got a towbar you can hire a car trailer near dunfermline for £40 a day. I may use that to go down south myself on my next mission but don't know if I trust the Octavia. If anyone knows of a car transporter for hire in this area I'd be interested...

Push it out on the road and use your AA membership to 'recover' it.

I have a hippo an A frame and also an old transporter trailer, could maybe help depending on timescales.

How North is it. I got quotes from Shiply to move a car from Aberdeen to Cumbernauld. So if it is around there, your mate may do it for you at mates rates and be a wee bit cheaper.

What about Fiat Daft?

I seem to recall he now has a recovery truck and moved somewhere north of the central belt...

Forfar area I seem to remember.

I have a 3.5t plant trailer but it has no brakes at the moment and needs a good service and some of the bed replaced.

That is teh sex - I'm in Inverness at the weekend but unfortunately have no means of transporting a car back with me so a bit of a useless post except to say you must buy this car!

I wouldn't use an A frame on the A9 at the moment, the rozzers have been weighing vehicles so there's a fair chance of trouble if you have a dodgy combination.

It's near a place called Dufftown in the north east. Cheapest recovery quote is £200. It isn't mot'd either so probably isn't legal to A frame.

I think I've sorted it, should be taking a drive up to see it in the 306 dizzler on friday! Got a quote of £200 to transport it too which seemed pretty reasonable.

That makes it £400 all in for a Saab 99... Result I think...
