Without him even seeing it I can guarantee Mike's response will be "what the hell is that?"  followed by "do they come in RHD?"

What about a Transit Connect seeing as it's a small van and was made to be one?

(or, to that end, a Ford Fusion?)

He used to have a Transit Connect and really rated it.  Possible good call there.

He did say he likes P6s, but then I pointed out that if fuel consumption and road tax are a worry then swapping a 944 for a P6 is even more daft than swapping a 944 for a Mk5 Allegro.

There are ever more P6es out there for which the VED (road tax was scrapped in 1935(!)) is free.

I will continue stressing this, until the last person realises, that the tax levied on cars since then, is completely and totally unjustified.

Furthermore, P6es, especially V8s, are really frugal with the old pez. Mine merely needs about five to six tank fills per year.

Oh, and our neighbour is selling a metallic green Corsa... C I think it is.  Fully road legal, reasonable condition bar a dented rear quarter from what I've seen... £450.

You want it, Billy?

Cheers, Vulg, but sadly even I'm all car-d out at the moment. I reckon I might even offload the SAAB.

On the subject of connects. Ive realised that they dont rust like every other ford. Anyone know why?

Connects are built in Turkey by Otosan rather than in a European Ford facility AFAIK. Maybe that's it.

Connects are built in Turkey by Otosan rather than in a special underwater factory in the English Channel where galvanising is replaced with saltwater baths. Maybe that's it.

That explains it . I thought regular transits used dairy cow slurry as a primer .

I think you might need to borrow my eyes, there's a few Connects round here that are turning brown. if you get a small van I'd go for an early as possible Berlingo and hope it's got a veg friendly engine, I think the first had that DW8 thing in them.

So... he seems to like the Xantia that he's sharing with me and seems to think the GT6 can be used when he's not using the Xantia.  Sounds scarily like a solution that does.  I reckon he's just won over by the fact we've put £10 in the Xantia and done over 100 miles when in the Porsche for the same jobs he'd be putting £25-50 in it.  Best of all, we have identical seating position so sharing the car is no big deal.

I know they do rust a bit but no more than any other van .compared to other Ford's they seem almost solid .
