First picture in this post shows what came off the steering wheel.

Others show what came off the gearstick and dash (including attention paid to the indicator stalks)

Last one shows all the cloths used.

It'll need more cleaning, but it's miles better now.

Agreed.

At first glance, I thought the before pics were the after ones. Mine are far, far worse than that.

FFS be careful with G101 on leather... I used it raw to remove dirty marks on the leather settee in the office and had to do the whole thing 'cos I managed to remove 73% of the dye on the cushions meaning it went from mustard coloured to magnolia.

I use a 25% mix on leather and test it somewhere hidden first:)

Raw g101 is suitable for removing layers of skin..

Having established that the 7 (for that is its name) appeared to be reliable on short/medium trips, we decided to use it as a runner for taking the 320i through for open heart surgery..

Work on the 320i went spiffingly-so much so we also managed to do some work on my brothers car..A thoroughly enjoyable day.

My Bro drove the 7 through, and pronounced it a fine steer, in need of only minor fettling for maximum comfort- removing the slack around centre on the steering box, sorting the exhaust blow and air con are all on the list.

She also got to have a pic with her younger cousin The e60 feels light compared to the e32. No wee e30 feels like a go cart. .

On the way out I fuelled her when showing 23miles let range left.

£40 @1.299/l saw me with 6.77 gallons.

Cruising at 70, plus a sprightly drive or two down some country roads netted an impressive 178.2 miles before being back to 23 miles range.

26.32 mpg is not to be sniffed at. I reckon with a full service and exhaust fixed, at a steady 65 I'd see 28mpg or so.

Even so, at current consumption I'd be up 22.2p per mile if I was getting business mileage. Now how do I start a company again?

320touring reminded me that my 735i boot struts were also worn out, so on the 7 Aug I ordered new boot struts. The UK ones were Ã‚£30.00 each while listed from Germany were a pair for Ã‚£36.80, I decided as they were not urgent and parts from EU do not have import duty I would order the German ones. In typical German fashion they arrived today one day ahead of the predicted delivery date. I still have not got the car back from the company who used it for film work earlier this year, have MOTed it for me and been storing it but on 24th Aug it is booked for a show with the independent 7 series register so I will get it back this week and fit the new struts.

So I was over working on the 320i today, and I took the opportunity to get a bit of work done on the 735i too

I took the opportunity to have a look at the exhaust blow at the rear.. as can be seen from the pics it was really ropey.

Pretty much no metal attaching pipes to the backbox, and a damn big hole in the backbox.

Exceptional craft skills with gun gum and exhaust bandage resulted in no blow but I think a new backbox is the only executive idea-about 100 Inc postage.

In other news - the tank straps are relatively new, and the front arb brackets are new too. But a few bits could do with a refresh-not too expensive.

Looks like it has been a solid buy:)

Note to self- when the on board comp says "17 miles to empty", that means you should have put fuel in 2 miles ago.

Ah well, pleasant night for a walk and I got it pulled over before it conked out..

6cyl- them struts for the boot done yet?

Headed over to my brothers to collect him before going to work on the 735i..

Pulled into the carpark-heard a gunshot..

Fucksticks.

Digging the scene, with the gangster lean.

But be thankful for what you've got, as you may not have a car at all.

Massive Attack? Good effort.

I'm hoping that's just a broken spring, it does look like it could be worse though...

Actually a cover of a William De Vaughn song. Never realised until I bought an album with it on several years after the Massive Attack one came out though as happens with pretty much most of their stuff (and every other artist I listen to TBH)

Initial inspection suggests i have no rear struts in stock.reckon i'll need to replace both.

I've yet to jack it up, but i'd lay money on either a broken spring or a failed spring seat on the strut..

Quick write up on this bugger on my blog- warts and all!

On your blog... "Computer shows “ tail light faultâ€Â- even though they all work"

Have you checked the number plate lamps, that's caught me out more than once.

I've checked nowt so far- thanks for the headsup. I know that sometimes cheap bulbs alter the resistance and can throw up faults- but numberplate lights sound likee a worthwhile check too:)

It's strange to think that some folk would pay a fortune for a suspension drop like that and your E32 has done it for free :P

Hope its a straightforward fix as this looks a good example.

Yeah its mega low. To achieve a a similar look would be about 1000 for a bilstien b12 kit.

To be honest i may get a small drop on it, and fit new stock dampers.the ride quality is the best bit of the car;)

No doubt i'll have a repair update once i've sourced bits..

Or does it have a third brake light? That caught me out once, kinda forgot it was there...

Thanks-only two on it. The bulb holders are crap so some cleaning etc should sort it

Rear Dampers purchased- going to change both as no doubt the one that is still working would be kippered shortly anyways.

Due in next week, so likely be next sat they get fitted.

Fingers crossed

Lovely wagon. I really need something with 3x3 point belts in the back.

Centre 3 point was an option on e38s I think but hardly any have this, most seem to be lap belt only

I dont think the e32 came with 3x3points at all-as you say likely needs to be the e38 for that.

Ideal rear seats in e32 would be the electric rear seats in an iL version..again they're rare
