Mr. Fowler has just departed Château de RML for home in the new old Volvo having given me a shot. It is SVM approved.

Looks GR8, M8. :)
Why would a Swedish barge come with the number plate off a French train, I wonder?.....

Status report:

The 960 is home. Proper photos will be in the offing as it's a bit bright just now and rather warm. I'll wait till nearer dusk to get something a bit classier. It drives fine - as a Volvo should but there are, of course, a little list of bug points to be worked on -

Tappets noisy when cold - suspect oil change required. Air filter is howkit anawl.

Brake pedal VERY soft. One man bleeding kit purchased.

Slight brake pull too but nothing serious under normal conditions.

Will try an air con re-gas to see if it'll work again.
Minor paint dings and a little rust. Will phone a mobile paint repair service. Should do the job.

Coolant needs flushed.

Lots of grotty engine oil over the intake system. Looks like overspill from a previous filling session but will clean and investigate.

As initially stated there is a complete wheen of spare parts included in the £550 price. I'll try and list as much as I can remember

1 x Grille

1 x Shock Absorber

1 x Heater Blower
1 x Exhaust Centre section

1 x Exhaust Rear section

3 x N/S/F side / indicator unit (rml2345s away with one)
1 x each side rear light clusters (rml2345s away with one)
Various x misc electrical switches

1 x Seat belt buckle
1 x Glass sunroof from a 940. Initially intended to replace the metal one but subtle differences
2 x Headlight units
1 x Starter motor
1 x Power steering rack
1 x Aisin AW30 automatic gearbox inc talk averter.

New catalyst fitted recently, all indicators converted to clear lenses so the whole thing looks pretty smart, premium audio head unit from a V90 fitted, 6 CD stacker works, cruise control works, climate control works (albeit with a chiller), dog guard fitted, hard plastic load liner present.

Value for money : 125% out of GR12ty

I love that plate, it's GR110%/12.

Pointless cherry plates are for winners. E33 XGD'll follow me about now I think.

I'd really like to meet you lot one day! :-D

I have.  Be sure to bring bacon butties, and don't skimp!  These boys work up a top-level appetite running down from the Frozen North, anybody's guess how they do it!

It's like the ice road truckers. But squarer.

We shall plan a return visit hopefully before we've passed next time Eddy!

Electric memory seats are FTW, even if it's only you that drives it. They allow minor position shuffling between, 'Shit, I'm lost' alertness to the '200 miles @ 80mph with Smooth FM on the stereo' recline. Looks ace. :)

Well bought Dave, that looks great! Hopefully see it next week.

I had a similar one a few years ago

Not 100% sure I'll manage next week. Think I'm on a backshift.

All these bricks are making me wish I still had one of my previous six hundred volvos.

That looks well worth the price you paid for it :-D :-D :-D

SVM Membership requires attendance at a Scotoshite dinner event for photographic evidence along with some of the other Volvos. It does seem well worth the price but back brakes look well yagged and brake pedal is still soft after a full bleeding session which has practically flushed all the old fluid out as well.

I've drained, flushed and replaced the engine coolant as well as it seems to have been running on extremely watered down anti freeze or maybe even just straight water 'cos when I drained it, it all looked a bit colourless. Now a very deep blue colour. May have made it a bit strong. Whoops, never mind.

BOOOOOOOO!

Incidentally, were you not tempted by the 960 down near Bedford that's been advertised on the VOC and on the blue place? Looks well smart.

I don't view the blue or the VOC forums 'cos they tend to be full of mongs. Had I known about it, I may have been tempted.
