I remember the Co-op delivering groceries to our house in one of those in the 60s.

Never seen that before, a mass production manufacturer being able to stack (transport and store until needed) one body shell inside the other is logistically really very impressive.  I doubt many makes could do this with any of their fixed head saloon / coupes.

^ Clearly it was designed from side-view and front-view drawings, rather than being sculptured in 3d.  It's one of those cars that you look at, from the outside, and politely say "the interior looks comfortable"

"The Leyland P76 is a large car that was produced by Leyland Australia, the Australian subsidiary of British Leyland. Featuring what was described at the time as the standard Australian wheelbase" of 111-inch "  ..and too narrow the suspension track for the body.  "..with a large boot, able to easily hold a 44 gallon drum."   Impressive, but is that something specific which Australian buyer's ask for .?   or does perhaps the engine leaks a whole lot of oil ?

The reason they can be slid together is because they are the rear halves of the alloy bodied GTA lightweight version of the 105 series Giulia Coupe. The alloy outer panels were glued and riveted to lightweight steel panels.

I spotted one once at a car show at Glamis Castle by it's little loop door handles and the riveted roof panel.

Interesting. I immediately thought they were Japanese but was not so sure about the car.  It was similar in principle to the German Phanmobile but the photo is of a Cyklon Cyklonette, also German.

When it was the Park Hotel before renaming to the Beau Brummel.

Now it is painted purple as a Toby Carvery
