Whats the source for this photo? Is it a glass-plate negative. Amazing depth of field.

I think it is a glass plate negative.

It is in the Isle Of Man Museum photographic archive so I have only seen it in electronic form.

Unfortunately the notes are a bit hit and miss.

There are a number of photos that my Dad and I donated, that are glass plate negatives but the notes make no mention of that on some but do mention it on others!

Here is a linky to the iMuseum page for this photo https://www.imuseum.im/search/archive_record/view?id=mnh-museum-535115&type=archive&tab=all&from=0&term=charles+rolls&size=20&sort=&filter=&view=&images=&ttmgp=0&rfname=&rlname=&machine=&race=&raceyear=&linked=0&pos=1

No idea on make and models of cars; anyone?

I think the lower photo and the rear view above matches the features of a Wolseley from about 1920.

Thank you for the link to the museum galleries.

Fantatic pictures of how motorracing was in the formative years.

I would also suggest Wolseley on the later pics.

Newcastle, January 1979.

Ten year old Alfa dissolving by the minute.

But, amazingly, the 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 is still around somewhere in 2018 according to DVLA.

Edit, . . . . after a bit of googling, check out this link.

Interesting result from a random old winter street pic off the internet.

Maybe one day Captn 70s' Doloshite or Dan's Capri may turn up in an old pic.

Proper snow in those days.

Someone spent a crazy amount of money turning that into a racer. Going to LHD won't have been exactly cheap either. Wonder if 26 grand represented a loss?

The Alfa had moved a long way since being new.BO was a Cardiff letter combination.
