I don't understand why they're driving it sounding like that,or why they don't just pump up the tyre . As far as I can see ,apart fro the engine knock and the air suspension being inoperative,(maybe connected?) there doesn't seem a lot wrong with it.

I've done a bit of repo work, mostly for Toyota Finance and I've picked up a few Lexuses in far worse condition than that. Usually the 'owners'are happy to see them go as they've had a free car for months and are scared to use them as the tyres are so bald! The worst thing is going to building sites and taking Hi-Luxes or vans off guys who didn't realise how much financial shit their boss was in- all too often the first they knew they were about to lose their jobs was when I arrived to nick their van, a couple of times I took them home first so they could clear out their tools etc. I never had anyone get aggressive or awkward, but I'd feel so shit for days after doing one ,that I knocked it on the head.

Agreed, check the oil ffs! Think the tyre had blown and I thought I saw a comment that suggested missing suspension airbag(s) but who knows.

The Spiderman brolly was a nice touch anyway.

Repo work sounds pretty unpleasant at the blunt end!

I used to move the odd repo around the country on trade plates. The company selling them didn't want to auction them off in the same area they had been repossessed in case the previous owner saw them driving around so sent them a few hundred miles away to be sold.

Every one I saw was trashed, cracked screens, bald tyres, dented panels and usually full of fag ends and rubbish. One which stuck in my mind was a 3 year old Audi A4 convertible with every panel bashed, interior deliberately wrecked and both front tyres through to the plies (obviously though "burning out")

I got the impression that many owners knew they were going to get repo'd and so deliberately abused them to death.

People are dicks.

My council estate dwelling caveman cousin being a prime example. He got a mildly offensive tattoo on his face to make himself deliberately unemployable....the job centre make him attend interviews and if he doesnt go or deliberately fucks it up, they will stop his dole....anyway, he managed - somehow - to get a nearly new L200 pickup on finance.

It got thrashed to hell and back, loaned out left and right to all his scummer friends, panels deliberately kicked in and just generally fucked up, safe in the knowledge that he had no intention of paying off the loans, the car would get repo'd and he wouldnt have to deal with it.

Not the first time he has done this either.

I've never had to repo someone's car but working for a hire firm I've had to arrange to "snatchback" cars people won't return once the hire period has ended either because they have any exaggerated view of how much their written off car is worth compared with what the insurer has paid out and they are in a wrangle over it or they haven't bothered their arse to go and buy a new car with their payout but don't want to be carless so just keep our car, we need to acquire spare keys from head office, use the tracker to find out the cars location and go and get it back, some of the cars are out for only a couple of weeks and are wrecks when they come back, usually full of crap inside, dog hair, fag ash, broken trim, scuffed alloys, broken mirrors/lights, collision/accident damage, handbooks, sat nav discs etc missing. Some of the cheeky fuckers even try to swap the tyres for scrap tyres, spares are a favourite, we once got a Corsa back full of drug paraphernalia and they had swapped the brand new Dunlop spare off the rim for a blown out one, someone else returned a 4000mile 63 plate Nissan Juke with as new 18" Contis all round with one of the Contis missing and a 2mm Michelin in its place complete with cracked tread and a 2010 dot code on it.

We also have a do not rent list where anybody who does anything like the above gets added so they don't get another hire from us in future, some of the people on there (strangely mostly Asian, Pakistani and Indian people on the list) have done crazy things, one was a black Astra at a branch in southern England which came back with 1 of the door mirrors ripped off, 2 front tyres through to cord, all alloys kerbed, filthy inside, sill damage, a smashed window, indicator stalk snapped off and accident damage, best of all there was a bag of stuff ie Vauxhall black aerosol paint cans, masking tape, sandpaper, brown paper for masking the car, primer and lacquer cans in the car so presumably the guy was going to attempt to DIY repair some of the damage and hope it wasnt noticed, if they can do that in 2 weeks I'm not surprised their own cars are fucked after 3 years.

I'm more shocked at just how shitty a modern Rolls Royce is irrespective of any damage. Those 'rims' were tacky beyond belief and the dash could have came out of a Kia.
