Can I book a 'Kick Dave Up The Arse/Recommission The Dyane' Day, please?  Refreshments will be provided.  Tools will be present...  ;)

Shit, sorry. Forgot there was that one too. And you did ask first!

Right how about:

July session - Chaseracer.

August session - catsinthewelder.

All welcome, all open to suggestions, all could change without notice!

Would it upset things massively if Ludlow was the back end of either July or August?

I'm on holiday the first 2 weeks of August,  I'm not sure where I'm going yet but I'll definitely not be in the work carpark (like my last week off).

No! I wasn't pushing in! How about Ludlow as planned, then Dyane Day a few weeks later so CITW can come before his hols if so inclined?

Don't forget I've got to find the bloody thing first...

Not at all! I was aiming roughly monthly so we don't get bored with the idea too quickly. The start of the month is only a rough date to work to so either is good, let's say end of July? Whatever suits the most folks...over to you all.

Edit: just seen Chaseracers comment. Does that suit you CITW?

Back end of August is a no-no for me. Otherwise, I think I'm fairly available. Have tools (somewhere) will travel (probably).

I'm currently clear through July and August and happy to travel.

Happy to do some Dyane tinkering early next month then do something here a few weeks later.  The Boss is away for the back end of July so we will have a bit of peace and quiet ;)

Great! Whatever suits - kettle will be on. Can't promise Mary Berry, but various kinds of biscuits are a definite.

Anyone up for an short notice tat fetting session at my house some point very soon?

I can't get the crankshaft oil seal back onto the engine of the Disco and would really appreciate a hand,  getting very close to having to pay someone else to do it and I havn't reached that level of desperation for a while.  If we can fire up the 1100 too that would be a bonus :)

There's a long parking bay outside my house about 4 cars long that I could probably 'reserve' by parking the Cherry and my friends Kangoo really badly in it.  Tea/coffee and cake will be supplied and there's an old fashioned motor factors 10 mins away.

The next date I could make for a Sunday Spannering would be the 29th of June but I don't know if that would be soon enough for you?

So, is there going to be a meet in August? I'm planning to be UK-bound by about that time and I should be armed with a tatty Rover 827 Coupe (which, lets face it, is gonna need some tinkering)

If anyone is willing for a tinkering session August time, please let us know.

I forgot to say that I would be able to host a future Sunday Spannering event at my mothers house in Erdington, Birmingham. Driveway is large enough for at least four cars & I have a MIG welder and a fairly decent amount of tools etc plus the obligatory tea making facilites :)

If somebody's coming who can get the seal on then I can happily wait a week,  there's a bit of welding that I can do in the meantime.  I do need to get it sorted though as I'm starting to take the piss with vehicle storage.  Being in the sticks there's bound to be a local Landy expert,  the main issue is that it's already in bit's on the drive so I can't drive it to their workshop if they won't come out.

LS  Hopefully we'll meet somewhere in August,  just the where and when to decide ;)

HK  Sounds good chap,  hopefully I can make it to whichever one you host

I can do the 29th, and I have a shiny new Halfrauds Pro toolkit*.  Sadly, I do not know how to do a Discovery crankshaft seal - but I am very good at passing tools, drinking tea and talking shite.

* All the gear, no idea...

Yup, put me down for the 29th. What's up with the seal? Is it a knock in? If so you've got my sympathies. I've spent many an hour chaceing the pudding round the plate, so to speak.

Posted

Yay,  be good to see you (and the BX) again.

The HBoL tells me to drift it in with a suitable cylinder,  unfortunately there is a gearbox in the way and I've now mullered 3 of them.  The first with a hammer,  the second seemed to go in fine by pressing it in using the flywheel bolts but leaked as I'd fucked it up,  the 3rd is now looking rough after a few failed attempts so it's time to order another.

I should be good for this on the 29th, PM sent to HK for address details.

Use an old seal to protect the new seal as you knock it in. Grease the inner surface of the seal but not the outside. If it's greased on the outside it will rock and cause you loads of grief. Small gentle taps going round in circles.

Softly softly catchy herpes

Well, assuming I can get my students past the end of year IV, and the wife hasn't dropped I'll pop over and have a gander, tut, possibly rub hands on old rag and drink overly sweet tea.

Possibly over advice or even attempt to fit said seal as well.

Due to my lack of skills I thought that HK was hosting next, but now I understand it to be:

Host: Catsinthewelder

Location: Ludlow

Date and time: Sunday 29th

Cats can you PM me a time and location, I should be free in the afternoon to turn up and chat/hit stuff/fiddle with things/drink tea

Posted

PM to me also, plizz thanking yoo  :)

Well, yes, an address and a time when hordes of unwashed mentalists would be welcome at your establishment would be a good idea I suppose.

Posted

What sort of time would you like to arrive chaps?  Would 1 pm suit and I'll see about sorting some snacks for afternoon tea?  or I can do morning and provide a light lunch.

It sounds like we have attracted at least one person who can fit the sodding seal so I'll order a fresh one and not worry my local spanner monkey,  there isn't masses of parking outside the house but there is some more nearby and once we've finished the local pub is top notch.

Internet spammers wouldn't have too much trouble finding me so directions are;

From brum,  aim for Kidderminster then Bewdley and follow the road through Far Forest,  turning off for Cleobury Mortimer.  Through there and over Clee hill and when you can see a big roundabout in front of you (as you're passing The Nelson Inn) You're arriving at the top of this map

Ah, so go right around the island after a "bollocks" under the breath and a left! I wonder who's coming who can put that seal in?
