I know the 240 definatly was a lift up job as i broke it! He wasn't happy

What a happy looking old thing that is. You can't really go wrong with a big RWD Volvo :)

Pawnote: I took the first photos of The Volvo in my ownership at Birchanager Green Services, albeit in the far corner of the car park.

It's because Mrs T slung me off of the pc so she could play Candy Crush Saga and Pearls Peril....

,,,

I could've been reunited with the Previa, albeit briefly.

How's the old bus going now, mate?

mrs T needs a tablet - works in my household anyway  :-D

previa is good, i am removing half the interior for van duties this evening, but will all go back together for its impending mot 8)

melted bits are all replaced except the rear bumper which i have been promised but still not seen after 5 months!

fuel consumption is still a crippling 16mpg but i am planning on solving that by re-commissioning an old friend for commuting purposes

Absolutely top bloody buy!!!! It looks a cracker.

I had a 940 Wentworth estate in cop white. Bloody lovely car and could shift for its size. MPG? Couldn't have given a rats arse about MPG. I really miss that 940.

Engine will take that kind of mileage in its stride. Good that the belt has been done.

Am insanely jealous.

That looks like a great old barge! These seem to be more and more popular on here, and I'm often browsing them on e bay ( goes off to browse again )

People are definitely feeling the lurve for the big Swedes on here.

I'd rather have Agnetha Faltskog, but this will do for the time being.

Thanks for the further positive comments fellas.

I'm in the process of putting a coat of polish on it, further pics forthcoming.

That's a heap of pure brilliance you've acquired there!

I always liked the name "classic" when applied on entry level motors. Well bought.

Oh, by the way Chris,

How's yer bum now?

That should get 'em thinking.

Yeah, the stronger the better sometimes mate.

I could really do with a spare wheel of some description for this. I'm living on borrowed time at the moment. The previous owner hit a pothole and one wheel is buggered. Anybody got a wheel and tyre to suit? Ta.

Only just caught up with this thread, nice motor that, well played.

We sold our Diesel 940 to my Sis and BiL, damned good car that was and we've kicked ourselves for many years for flogging it on, many's the time she jump started her Volvo lorry with the thing and the 24v surge never bothered the old motor one bit.

What i like most about is their resilience to rust.

I keep fancying a 960/V90 with the 3 litre engine, but no doubt its festooned with bloody computers, so maybe another 940 but with the same engine you've bought, most of the Diesels have been to the moon and back.

By the way did you know the 7/9 Diesel is VW's 6 pot turbo'd 2.4 taken straight out of the LT45 van of early 80's vintage, 1/2 a turn clockwise on the fuelling screw gives it some serious torque from 1000 rpm, and you can smoke the bastards out behind if they annoy you.

My lad has an S60 with the completely unrelated 2.4 Diesel lump, whilst its a very nice car,. safe and strong, they aint a patch on the 9's, which were the pinnacle of Volvo's RWD days in my humble, and the underwear is showing signs of corrosion, best get the old oil or waxoyl going if you want to keep a newer one for ever.

I have one like this :

IIRC it's shod with a 195/60R15, which holds air and has legal tread but is ancient. Should be OK as a spare, though.

Yes please SF. Can it be got to Rainham, Essex at all. How much would you like for the piece of automotive art? Thanks

Well, I've been using this for a week, backwards and forwards to work.

When I got it, both oil and water levels were down a bit, which made me a little nervous, as I was so used to the levels in the Grand Voyager not moving. I was wondering if I'd bought a nice looking, but mechanically challenged Volvo.

I topped up both levels before I returned to work, and I'm happy to report the levels have stayed up to the correct level. No dramatic drop. Bloody gtood show.

What I'm a little less happy about is a slight leak from the sunroof. Nothing major, no raging torrents inside the car, but any leak is unacceptable. I'll have to check the drains.

Anyone on here cured a leaky Volvo sunroof without resorting to gaffer tape or silicone sealant? I want to keep the sunroof operational for summer purposes.

Can anyone tell me where the drains are on these please? Ta.

For anyone considering one of these, I wouldn't mind betting this would come up really cheap.

I couldn't post a pic, because there's none in the ad!

I can make enquiries, should anyone feel the need, but the seller has included his phone number in the ad.

It looks like it could be a 2 litre Wentworth auto.

In darkest Cornwall though. What a collection thread that would make.

The very critical Mrs T had a drive of this today.

Big thumbs up.

We went out for a coffee this morning, and I asked her if she'd like to drive it home.

She hummed and arred at first, but once on the move, she loved it, she said it made her feel safe.

We live pretty close to the A13, a three lane dual carriageway. As we got closer to home, she asked if she could take it for a blast. She ended up flying along the A13.

Pretty boring stuff I know, but it means a lot to me when she likes my purchases.

She loved the Grand Voyager, but never wanted to drive it.

A good day for me.

There's another 940 just come up for sale over on the Volvo forum, a 2.0 GL manual with 12 months mot.

I'll link it across if there's any interest.

It's in North Yorkshire.

That will be this one that I posted yesterday on the eBay thread, it looks looks a bargain to me.

That'll be the one, Mr Trigger.

I bet that'd clean up lovely.

He wants 300 quid on the Volvo forum.

I took a few more pics today.

No rhyme or reason, just because I wanted to.

Looking good! Spotted this very similar Classic at the crematorium yesterday; it may be my new favourite colour for 900s

Since I got my Classic I've seen about 12 others and bar the badge that says Classic mine appears to bear fuck all resemblance spec-wise to any of the others to the point I'm beginning to think mine isn't a Classic at all.

Thanks cms206.

In the first pic, it looks like a cat with muddy paws has walked across the bonnet.

It was just a reflection of a cloud formation.
