Cold War Cars Meet in Epping, features much Polonezezness

Well today me and a group of friends had our first car meet for a new group that has been founded, all about cold war cars. We had just 6 of us turn up, but there was some solid gold Autoshite there, 3 fully road legal FSO's, one of which is a fresh import from Poland. Here is a shot of the lineup. The blue Favorit has just 11,000 miles on the clock. I will add more photos later on to this thread, as I'm a bit knackered atm.post-5211-0-08903400-1394384496_thumb.jpg

Hot Polonez/Caro action!!! The alloys on the B reg look great on it. :)

The blue Favorit estate is called 'Blueberry' I believe. Seen photos of it and it looks sublime. B)

Christ alive, that's weapons-grade stuff there. If I'd seen that convoy of FSOs on the road, I would have been feverishly playing pocket billiards.

We were getting strange looks as we headed into London, and yes it is Blueberry is that Favorit, belongs to a friend of mine. The owner of the Estelle and green Caro was host for the meet, he also owns a 125P that is being restored, plus some rather more non shite cars. Hospitality was most excellent too. Sadly the Estelle ran into trouble in heavy traffic in East London. We will be having our next meet at an old nuclear bunker, and the turnout may be higher, featuring even more FSOs! Here are some more photos for you to enjoy, and savour. Shite Calendar fodder?

Fabulous. The Favorit was the last good looking (in an Eastern Europe kind of a way) Skoda for my money. They look (ahem) superb. Lovely to see so many FSOs too.

Nuclear bunker? Near Ongar on the A128?

I'll be there trying to resist a STU_CDX incident with the B plate Polonez.....

I will keep you posted on the next meet date so anyone in the South East can pop along and say Hi, and then collapse into gibbering wrecks at the sight of Polski Fiat greatness. Here is a vid of some silliness that went on today, due to the off the clock loony photographer:)

Yes indeed Dave, it was a shame you couldn't join us today, the insanity at one point was right up your street. Maybe next tine eh? Anyway, what about this for a view joining the M11?

The more modern fso is much 2 diplomatic than the more communist b reg one, are they still readily available to import from poland? There was one ob ebay in Scotland a while back but it was for spares only

A couple more shots, some people might need fresh undercrackers

Supply of them even in Poland is rapidly drying up, they crave western brands there, so FSO's have been ditched long ago by many, and if a seller gets a slight whiff that the car may be blighty bound, the price immediately doubles or trebles. My friend sourced the green Caro via his mother in law who lives in Poland, he gave her the money, and she bought the car as if it was going to be hers, he was jerked around on another car, which he paid for, the seller got wind of it that it was going for export somehow, then claimed he'd had an accident in it, he got his cash back, and mysteriously, the car was back up for sale at a higher price not long after.

On that tocken, I wonder if we can sell them Rovers for tripple the price?

They seem to like VW's to be honest, my friend even had a Polish gentleman knock on his door the other day, just to take photos of his Caro, as he was so surprised to see one here in the UK.

I'm tempted to paint the Merc in BRIXMIS camo and join the next meeting.  But you won't know I'm there...

If you ever need a Romanian Oltcit 11R that lived in Hungary to join in such fun just let me know and I will do my best to be there if it's not too far away!

The more the merrier mate, you would be more than welcome to join us. We are Essex/London based, and we are on facebook at the moment (Cold War Cars London). Your car would fit in perfectly. Looks like the next meet will be on the 27th of April at the Kelvedon Hatch bunker, not set in stone yet, but will keep you posted

Thanks for that I am in Buckingham and Essex is just manageable, It may have to be the next one as I am planning to attend the Citroen X rally 27th April.

No worries mate, it's early days anyway

Meet confirmed for 27th April, PM me for any further information, especially if you have roadworthy Commie car-ness. I think we'd probably like some BL cars to attend at some point, as they were assembled by rampant Trotski-ites too
