Yesterday I purchased this 306 D Turdo. Good engine, Shit car. Comes with alloys, spares, yadda yadda.

Paintwork damaged from paint stripper.

It is a good powerful engine, low mileage at 101,000. I'm engine raping it for my 205.

The olds still do not know about it; I havn't told them yet, as this car takes me above the required '4 cars per person' rule in our household.

If you want somthing to play with let me know. I have a good 205 1.7TD engine that could be fitted without too much bother.

Likewise let me know if you want parts!

Straight bodywork, paint damage only. Rattlecans will tidy it up. Some minor interior parts missing, havn't made a full investigation yet.

Can be supplied as a rolling shell.

The effort that will go into stripping and selling parts it will not justify the time and effort, as the parts are so readily availiable that they are dead cheap.

Come and take it away next week for scrap value £100. (Or I can deliver within reach of North Yorkshire)

Basically just give me inspration! I am open to offers and ideas, anything goes*

Applogies for the unsufficient number of Chod-sperdition piccys.

The Lada towed wonderfully again, all the way back from Blackpool (2 hours) in the dark and no problems at all. Got 70mph uphill on a long gentle uphill drag on the A59! Probably the most well behaved A-Frame expedition yet, possibly down to the fact I had the 306 running, and the power steering was assisting the vehicles' steering.

Lada-full of Chod-sperdition supplies - A-frame, concrete slabs, (ballast) Trailer board, oil, water, spare wheels, overalls, fuel, tools etc etc...

The Lada was completely confused when I brimmed the tank - Fuel gauge kept flicking from full to empty!

Couple pics on the way back, Put a gallon in the 306 to keep it ticking over as I have no trailer lights on the Lada, and the 306 luckily came with towbar electrics :D

I got myself into a bit of bother at the infamous 'Escort jacknife hairpin' below Chez Cabbage, the Lada just wheelspun on the step wet uphill and ground to a halt, engine stalled. No effective handbrake on either cars, No way of holding it on the hill whilst I chocked wheels, and no way of seeing where I was reversing because the lights on the 306 were so bright. Luckily I managed to put the Lada into reverse with the engine off and ran the 306 into the banking by the road using engine compression and the clutch to hold it! I got out and chocked the 306 and undid the A-frame and seperated the cars and drove them home seperately!

Safely hidden away behind some buildings away from the gaze of the parents!

*This post is just a disclaimer. If no Autoshiters come up with any ideas for the use of this motor then no blame can will be laid on me if it gets scrapped! The onus is on YOU!

Erm, stupid question probably deserving of stupid answer; Does the 306 have any MOT left on it?

The 306 does not have any MOT/Tax but was last used on the road about 12 months ago. I can probably MOT it as is without any serious issues. The front disks could do with cleaning up (light surface rust) and it could do with a new battery as it only just starts on its own, handbrake cables need tightening up. Been for a quick spin today, it drives fine with no unusual noises. All mechanicals seem to be fine, just cosmetic problems. A few minor internal electrical issues - somebody has had the speakers out, the stereo needs coding, the drivers electric window doesn't work. Trim missing below the steering wheel.

Comes with replacement O/S Wing in silver, and a Silver front bumper/valance.

tell me more about this 1.7td engine?

The engine came out of my 205 TD. Its a standard XUD7TE. IFAIK 154k, good compression, drove great and pulled really well.

I would recommending changing cambelt and waterpump if putting in another car, just good practice. Very slight fuel leak from the Lucas injection pump.

I skim read the thread title as "Enraged 306 Dizzler", which caused me to wonder exactly what you'd done to upset it!

If you decide to break it, I'm very interested in the alloys...  B)

This is my 3rd set of Speedlines, I am sure we could come to some kind of arrangement if you are coming to Chodfest in May.

Didn't know you'd been sightseeing too, bro. That explains why it was blurry-o-clock when you got back.

Luckily Will's purchase wasn't discovered today.

When I came home from work, I took it for a quick bezz along some local private* lanes, and found for myself that a gutsy 306 is indeed an epic steer. The ride and handling compromise is everything I've read, and better. It has an almost BX ability to gobble up the bumps, yet goes around bends like it's on rails. Not quite as flat or balanced as an MR2, but deffo the best FWD chassis I've tried. And I've tried a few!

I could very easily live with a blown 306D as a daily if I found a good, early one. Especially as we now have a WVO processing setup at Chez_Cabbage.

1.9 TurboD grunt + 306 chassis + cla$$ic insurance + nearly-free fuel = WIN

Anyhoo, this evening we had fun* dragging Will's latest victim onto the top field with Olga.

That's picturesque Malham Cove in the distance:

As a bonus, even a shitty one is a good lucking vehicle, from any angle.

I'd be interested in the towbar if it does get broken

Do you still have the spare wishbones mentioned on the ebay add?

Andy

Where's Willie?
I'll answer for him... tomorrow I'll have a look in the car for the wishbones. I saw the spare turbo, bumper, etc,,,
And the towbar - it'll have your name on it Andy. I'm quite sure this'll get broken, it has a good rear beam; there's cashback to be claimed on that for a start.

(explosive-cabbage - Will - is wor kid brother, for those who didn't know.)

Yep, towball looks good, not much rust, fairly clean. Don't think it has been used much.

Wisbones are new but look like they have been rattling around in a garage for a while - light surface rust.
