NorfolkNWeigh Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Yes,damn you! I thought it would be really difficult ! A4 estate apparently ,who'd a thought a Bristol with German lights.
HillmanImp Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I have a photo of WX09 JEU somewhere but cannot find it. It used to be seen on Street Lane in Leeds a fair bit. Before that he (I can only assume its the same chap) owned an S reg one with the Senator rear lights in the same colour as the one above IIRC.
Junkman Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 A4 estate apparently ,who'd a thought a Bristol with German lights. If it's of any comfort, Audi taillights are made by Odelo in Slovenia for the past quarter century or so.
RedSparrow Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Ha! The Bedford rear lights look particularly shit.I would still love one though.
RedSparrow Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 image.jpgThe final ones ,I didn't recognise and had to google. Surprised where they'd come from and suspect this was after Tony Crook had any input.Any guesses? Hmm, they look distinctly like Skoda items...
Felly Magic Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 The bumper of that grey one in the press shot doesn't look at all straight, and CF2 rear lights at one point? How utterly mingebag for such a 'posh' and expensive and exclusive car. I did hear James May was given the short shrift a few years back by the then owner of Bristol, because he is friends with Clarkson.
anonymous user Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Sadly it went for a more realistic £10k as I suspected it might, so it was a waste of time me emptying the change jar and searching down the back of the sofa. http://www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/26-02-2014-ThePavilionGardens-1364/1979Bristol412Convertible-37595.aspx alf892 and HillmanImp 2
mercrocker Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Bristol had only just finished building bombers to blitz German cities when they started to use Teutonic engines for their brave new post-war world as car makers. They certainly would not have let it bother them decades later to have used German tail lamps. Previous 406 models used Super Minx items IIRC - why waste money tooling that kind of stuff up? Bristol buses were a different outfit and came out of that City's omnibus operator's DNA. It did used to amuse me that we all used to go to school by Bristol but then I was a solitary child. Fuggly or not (indeed one of the car's specialists used to rejoice in the name of Fuggle...) I still want one and no Bristol can do any harm or be criticised within my earshot. Bollox to Rollers, I would have a Brizzle anyday.... eddyramrod and Squire_Dawson 2
carlo Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 At least three of those rear light assemblies look completely wrong, especially the Bedford (makes the car look like an Allegro), and Senator/Audi ones. What an earth was the point of re-tooling all the back pressings just to incorporate those monstrosities?
mercrocker Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Tail lights, schmail lights......Muppets off the telly being given the brush off just makes me want one even more. eddyramrod 1
Sudsprint Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The 412 is by a mile Bristol's best looking car since that four door thing in the 50s. The front looks like an good natured Opel Rekord and the back like a well nourished Beta Spyder (and the lights actually look like they belong with the car).
outlaw118 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 One of those wanker Manc Gallagher brothers has got one IIRC....A quick scan of eGhey reveals two:A 1981 bus with only 150k on?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1981-Double-Decker-Bristol-Classic-Bus-/131122412830?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e87813d1e Or this beauty:A project 405. Both for sale by the same place, near me, if anyone wants to go for them!!!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bristol-405-Classic-Car-/131068522352?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e844aef70 morris_ital_lover 1

Guest Breadvan72 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Some dealer bought it and is now asking 22K for it. Yerks!
