r.welfare Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Welcome! Great pics.Your 827 Mk1 is a beauty to behold. Is that the "Rover" accessory bodykit on it? I remember seeing it in the brochures with a bizarre comment from ARG saying "the alloy wheels featured on this car are not available either as part of the kit or separately"...Your collection of motors means you will fit in well. Hope the new Sterling's S4 gearbox and fuesbox are fit and well. Make sure you stock up on superglue to fix the warped dashboard over the instrument panel.
Torsten2001 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Welcome! Your taste in cars is exemplary!
r.welfare Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Would the fella who is selling you the cars be a very tall chap by the name of Brad?
Milford Cubicle Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Lovely stuff! I really liked my 1993 825D, would love to own another. A Mk1 Vitesse would be super, but I'll probably just end up buying a later 825D or something.
r.welfare Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Would the fella who is selling you the cars be a very tall chap by the name of Brad? Yes Indeed! you know him!? It seems everyone knows him! I've yet to fond anyone who doesnt know him! Lord SterlingI don't know him but he's a stalwart of the R800 forums (can't remember which one I signed up to when I had an 820i). From what I can make out, he's absolutely minted (something to do with mortgages) and owns an example of every single model variation of Mk1 & Mk2 R800. When I was last browsing the forum he'd found the Holy Grail - a Mk1 820 Fastback with the carb'd 8 valve (Ital) engine in it, in Mushroom! Apparently his love of them stems from the fact that he fits in them OK, he's 6'9" or something ridiculous like that. I believe he's planning to build a private museum to the R800 on his land out Evesham way; we need more eccentrics like him these days. A sort of Lord Montagu of shite.
Split_Pin Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hello!Your old 827si is absolutely lush! Shame it came to such a sad end My neighbour used to own a lovely 827 Sterling on that nice burgundy-over-grey colour with cream leather E538NMS I think. I even had the identical matchbox model!
andrew e Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Welcome that Avengers a beaut The rover bodykit was £1725 option new, plus the 16" Roversports (of which I have a odd 15" spare and legal tyre if anyone wants one).

scrappylad Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 In an unusually lager fuelled moment, I bid & won a Mk1 Vitesse Auto on ebay towards the end of last year. It was a nice one in the same colour as the one above & after much deliberation I came clean with the seller & said I bid in error. It had a reserve on it & I was bidding it up by 50.00 pound increments to see what was required to buy it as someone else had already put in their maximum bid.. Only their maximum bid was less than my final bid & the reserve had just been met!The other guy accepted a second chance offer & I paid the difference of 25.00 quid to let me off the hook. Only by now I had decided I'd like the car but I accepted in myself it was too late by then. I think verytallbrad bought the car... but I might be wrong. And guess what? 3 months later my daily started to die & I needed a new car & ended up with my Audi!I still have a thing for Rover 800's...
Mr_Bo11ox Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Welcome lord Sterling. You seem to be a veritable connossieur of shite, your Mk1 800 was looking delectable. Also good use of the grocer's apostrophe adds to the shite ambience of the thread. Keep it up!
Lord Sterling Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 Thanks guys, I feel all warm and fuzzy now! I forgot to add that I've spoke to rootes_arrow1725 regarding a Mk1 800 he'd seen at an abandonned garage, I've yet to actually get up there but when I do I'll be sure to get some pics.
MrRegieRitmo Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I think verytallbrad bought the car... but I might be wrong.3 months later my daily started to die & I needed a new car & ended up with my Audi!We need to get this guy on here surely?! Can't be hard if so many people have contact with him!Hmmm....what's your Audi?
MrRegieRitmo Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 a gold Renault 14 (CAW995T)Lovely Rovers n all that, but let's cut to the chase - any pics of the above??
r.welfare Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 There is a possibility that I will be repatriating a T-plate Sterling saloon to the road (out of MOT 5 months; belongs to the boyfriend of t'wife's chum who also drives a V-plate KV6 Sterling coupe). He'd mentioned the saloon before but I assumed it was a scrapper - it actually looks reet nice (white gold!). One assumes it is the worst engine/box combo (KV6/auto) but we will see - it was dark/wet when I saw the car for the first time last night. He's going to inform me of what it failed the MOT on, so watch this space...
andrew e Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Can I stick some outside bets on abs sensors and a leaking tank
Spottedlaurel Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Welcome! That Mk1 Sterling looks a fine bit of kit.
