Creme de la Creme SHITE.

I had a mk1 shadow and they are in a class of their own. The quality on the early cars was really good however the later shadows and spirits were a major cost cutting excercise. Instead of having chain driven electric windows with a dirty great motor they went over to normal car stuff with flimsy cables. There used to be a Rolls specialist in the unit next to mine and he said they went down hill after the shadow and to avoid the spirits as they were the worst of the lot. I would love another though as they are so smooth and quiet with a lovely autobox. There again mine was an early car with the 6.3 engine it could shift as well if you wanted it to. Buy an early car that is solid and has had the brakes overhauled and you won't go far wrong

Like this perhaps?

:-D   I can vouch for these.  15-18 mpg, which is acceptable enough, and a lovely pillow-soft ride.  There might be a lot of kit on it but Detroit tends to look for the simple solution, so anything that can be done with relatively straightforward technology, will be.  So it isn't that hard to fix.  Also, the whole thing is built on a proper chassis.  Have you ever seen one?  It looks like it should be under a lorry!  Don't try to carry a bumper on your own...

When I had this one, the owner of a 1976 example told me he'd much rather have a Cadillac than a Rolls-Royce; the GM content of the RR meant it was "just an expensive way to buy a Caddy."  Meanwhile my mate at work, who had a 3.9 Range Rover, was lime green with envy for my mpg figures.

I had a '76 as well.

500 unadulterated cubic inches, or 8.2 litres in new money.

So that's how shag pile carpet got its name then? ;) Mind you, I would prefer the settee, even with the seat-belt buckles :)

Plus, I can tell the next Rolls Royce owner, that his car only has two thirds of an engine.

Unless he drives a Phantom III or Silver Seraph, or it's Johhny English and he tells you that yours only has three-quarters of an engine :-)
