Hi all, ages ago (possibly pre archive purge) there was chat about that old retro reg. number font that was squared off and looked well fly. Does anyone know its name?

Serck plates PWN every time, but no-one can find a source of them. The man who does will get a nobel prize for tat car preservation.

I am quite fond of the modern-ish Rover numberplates which are in a raised letter-style font. My K-reg 825D had them.

My Golf has quite a cool font on the front 'plate too

Copied from another forum..."You may have seen in the press that from 1st November 2008 it will become an offence to sell or manufacture registration plates that do not conform to the latest British Standards and design criteria laid down by the DVLA.Consequently the ability to purchase registration plates displaying non-legal fonts/spacing/images/slogans etc will be outlawed."Better be quick if anyone wants some retro-style number plates... me included!

Bloody pen pushers must be proud of themselves, so you cant even buy "non-legal" fonts/spacing/images/slogans just for show (As in personal use, in the house/garage) fantastic

I've alway quite like these, very 80's:

Just to add to that "in the United Kingdom".Isle of Man ahoy!

Or Ireland. Not that it matters, I still haven't been able to get a normal pre-2001 plate. Some sellers even deny there ever was such a thing.

No, Northern Ireland is still the UK. There are, or were, people in the ROI who sell UK-type "show" plates in any style you can imagine except the one I want.
