"the £5,000 car"?

Sadly, a rusty VIN plate will fetch that and the only way of ensuring your Mk1 Escort will be in the garage every morning is to employ a herd of rabid alligators in your pond, and snipers on next door's rooftop.

It's a double-shame since aside from some period wheels, it's pretty much unmonged and therefore infinitely nicer than it'll look next week when it's got forest arches and a "cosseh" motor.

Shame. I'll have to keep ete out but I doubt it'll be seen again like Pillock says.

Bastards. Another one that will never resurface.

This is such a despicable act against a couple of this generation in particular.   I would love, as always, a happy ending but sadly we all know the score.  Its probably already a shell - this is indeed the flipside of the OMGAVOTAX syndrome.

So much as I feel sorry for the couple, leaving an old ford like this on a driveway anywhere is asking for it to be taken.

No doubt it will end up wearing the vin from a terminally rusty example.

Isn't it sad that to own anything desirable nowadays means that it will possibly (probably) get stolen and vanish without trace? Law enforcement seems almost powerless to trace or prosecute the people responsible. The result being sadness and loss for the victims. Rarely a conviction or even an arrest.

The victim being blamed for owning it or leaving it on the drive. WTF?

Please read this again! Is it really their fault?

The problem is even if they do get caught the consequences are fairly minor. to the crims its probably an easy ten grand at the risk of what - community service if they get caught?

Absolutely wrong in my book.

You only have to watch a couple of episodes of Road Wars to realise that the crims usually get away with all kinds of stuff. Stealing a car and endangering the life of pedestrians? Reported and no charges made. Failing to declare SORN? £80 fine.

I didn't say it was their fault.

Unfortunately if you leave something desirable like this with minimal security somebody will have a pop at taking it.

These old school fords are becoming a liability for their owners, how long before insurance becomes very difficult unless you have an armed guard in your garage, thankfully I wouldn't want one and don't see the appeal (don't get the OSF thing as in true value +500%) but for someone that does the high rate of theft could seriously put them off owning one.

There is a big campaign in the "classic car scene" for fitting tracking devices to cars that are "desirable". I have one in the Grandad already. No need for fitting them to the P6es though, at least not yet.

Surely being Shiters and owning undesirable rubbish, we should be on lowest insurance possible..

Cars like this are so easy to nick, and I doubt it's been an opportunist thief sadly. I do hope it's found though, but deep down I don't think it will be. Sub human bastards they are
