My neighbour has asked me to try and sell this,its 03 astra 2.2 sri MOT till june body is very good,had a couple of tyres recently BUT the engine has started knocking ,shes looking for £300

I have thought about that but know nothing about modern tat,with their ECUs etc,is there much work involved?

I think that 2.2 unit has some 'oil movement' issues, pretty sure there was an oil way mod for them. Never owned one so dont k now what theyre like. I bet a second hand engine is only £150-200 at most so a potential good deal there.

I have a engine for one of those in my knackard Veccy.

The oil jet for the timing chain was too narrow resulting in the engine spitting the chain through its chappie. There was a mod for it though.

 

For the price you would make most of that back from the Prodrive bodykit alone. The wheels would sell to a Vauxhall apologist as a setof winter jobbies for 50 to 100 depending on condition.

 

Fecking good engine when in top fettle though.
