wots it wurth? MERCEDIS SEA-CLASS OMG NOT AMG RWD DRIFTSLAG DTM 3 SERIES BMW

I'm testing the waters here. I got this at an auction just before Christmas for my housemate/lodger/faux friend after her Puma blew up. Puma has new engine so this is surplus shite.

To be honest it's quite fun n' all so I'm no rush to sell it.

15hzdyc.jpg

It's a 1997 C200 Classic with three pedals and 120k.

The good:

Free of structual tin worm.

Electrics do as they're told with no tantrums.

Inside it's very tidy.

I've just put a new air filter in and given it an oil change. (OMG I R PRO TUNING GOD!!!!!!)

It's drinks moderatly (averages about 30, which is what parker's reckons is normal for these)

The bad:

Edges of the bonnet and bootlid are blistering up.

The paint is shit (why do you think I took it in the dark)

It's in semen white.

Tyres will need replacing very soon

M.O.T runs out in March.

So...wots it wurth? I'm thinking about £600 (This is the Saaarth Coast where you can rip people off and nobody notices).

Any suggestions on price or offers I can't refuse?

£600 seems about right old chap. Possibly

If you can get £600 for it I'd see that as quite a big result. As it stands it's a £450 car at best imho, probably nearer the £300-£375 mark, and even that's only because it should export for £300-£350.

3 pedals ... I assume that's not including the handbrake?

So, it's not automatic, not diesel, not long MOT, needs tyres. GLWTS

How much did you pay when you got it from the auctions less than a month ago? That should be a reasonable guide as to its value. If you want to flog it I would defo stick a years ticket on, specially if you don't think its got any crippling problems.

Aside from the usual old car crap have a look at the front to rear brake and fuel lines before putting it in for a ticket. They corrode over the rear subframe and where they are clamped. Either a ball ache or a lot of £'s depending if you do them or farm them out. Dealers quote around £1000, indys £3-400.

That's what i was thinking? Seems an odd question of you have just bought it. If you got it at auction I would lob a bit more on for a private sale and bobs yer uncle.

If you look on Ebay they seem to have sold for about £400-£500.

£390. Seller might be Bobby Davro with this comedy gold.

Drives well... not mint... but is green!!!

Seems like a steal for £410 but it comes with some serious emotional baggage:

this has been touched up by previous owner

But as i said above, ebay is a bit desperate. You can wang it up for a bit more on Autotrader and probably still get a sale it might just take a little longer.

You'd get more if the bonnet had a massive picture of a co.........

Thanks guys,

Skattard, It does have the silly parking brake, but the pedal is so malformed and sad looking I don't really count it as one.

For those who are asking how much I paid-good question-I paid £120 for it. But this what at a miserable, wet auction coming up to Christmas, even then it's a steal I know.

But I want to get MAXIMERM PROPHET for it of course.

I would be tempted to M.O.T it Boll, but I just know something will rear it's ugly head on test day and bite me on the arse. It's a high milliage old Merc, something will go badly wrong.

Quite likely to be celebrity owned then...

If you just gave 120 for it you can't really fail, i would stick it on Ebay for 250BIN, you'll probably get a couple of no-shows but someone will take it off your hands. If you are selling it ad a usable car, ie for more than bridge money, not a project you'll really need to get a new ticket on it.

If I paid £120 for it I would just chuck it on ebay as an auction and see what happens.

10 Print "NO BUY IT NOW. AUCTION WILL RUN TILL END."

20 Print "RELISTED BECAUSE OF TIMEWASTER."

A hundred and twenty quid! Given it doesn't appear to be landfill that's good going. I also suggest lobbing it on the Bay for 99p no reserve and seeing it find it's level, or £395 as it stands on Autotrader.

Ironically a W202 manual will, providing it doesn't dissolve, very likely outlast any W203 or W204... Non Kompressor so fewer silly hose issues, No diesel sensor traumas, sensible brakes etc. I mean, I wouldn't want it, God no, but GLWTS.

Right, taking everything into account I've read here, I'm going to try and get it a ticket and take it from there. Thanks for all your input guys, appreciated.

In the same vein as a Pontiac Firebird?

One things I don't want to read in in an advert is 'Has 2 months MOT, but should go through another without any problems'.

Another thing is, the more informative you are, the more timewasters you get. It seems they take advantage of you because you're being overly-helpful.

I know what you mean. "will waltz though an MOT" etc just seems to be tempting fate to me.
