oman5 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 The internet says "Buy a Commer as a cheap alternative to a bay window VW" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/commer-pb-panel-van-perkins-diesel-/190518005439 crikey thats steep..but its as close to a new one as you're likely to get I suppose.
pogweasel Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 As expensive as that commer is, it is mind-bogglingly cool. And still half the price of an equivalent VW in similar condition.
ProgRocker Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1986-FORD-ORION-1-6-GHIA-COLLECTORS-CAR-/260732511578?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cb4de655a i'v looking at this for a few days and kept thinking this surely must a listing error? 5K For an old MK2 orion???? there off there trolley! That very car was on for £5995 a few weeks ago. At least the asking price is edging in the right direction.
scruff Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 That Commer is friggin awesome and as Pog says cheaper and cooler than a rubbish old Volkswagen
Guest Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 i suppose so yeh. but hes gonna have to knock it down to at least £1,500 before he gathers any interest!
boobydoo Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 £3495 seems a tad strong for one of these...but I know there's a following on here for 'em! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0640159320

scooters Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 £3495 seems a tad strong for one of these...but I know there's a following on here for 'em! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0640159320 it is high but if you really really want one of these then you need to be budgeting to hold £1500 in the bank to fix it when..and it is when it goes wrong. These guys in Diss are very well known in the CX/XM circles and are specialists - all cars come with full service -all issues sorted and in very good condition/warranty etc. If I lived down there then I would consider this as a daily driver by the mere fact that it has been maintained by these guys. as I say, XMs may be chepa to buy but they are not cheap to run and there are many many shitters out there which have been owned by folk who haven't maintained them properly - bearing all that in mind then for the peace of mind with XM ownership (which is always a bit of a lotters) this is pretty reasonable for such a high spec and rare car.

OSF tax is applied to this sort of thing but thirty nine large? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p Thats not so surprising. Its not OSF tax but historic motorsport tax and anyone well off enough to race a pukka old race car generally has even more money than a plasterer from Essex.

AeroNautiCal Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 A guy in Tranmere had a couple of yards full of ex-military huskies and other vans and trucks in the early 1970's. I used to play in both yards and in every vehicle they had.
TimothyClaypole Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Turn up after buying it with a cordless grinder sporting a flap disc and sand it off in front of the seller.
Cavcraft Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 The car in the 'mural' seems to be a cut and shut featuring the front end of a Fiesta Mk1 XR2 and the back end of a Mk4 Escort. With a bit of Vauxhall Nova thrown in for good measure.
