inconsistant Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 After meeting Alexg and his lovely Allegro Estate I just had to pop this one up here... Alexg, Jack_Harpers_Teeth and Junkman 3
KruJoe Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Oof. Wood. You're not helping my delicate state at all, I need an Allegro Estate in my life, preferably in some snotty, shitty hue. Thank you for sharing.
rml2345 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Excellent! They did these in some superb* shades as well although I always wondered why we never got a Vanden Plas Shooting Brake version as it's the one I really want.Still would though.
NorfolkNWeigh Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 If they'd made a commercial version of the VdP and a special edition signed by an Irish singer it could have been the Van the Man Van den Plas Van.Excellent! They did these in some superb* shades as well although I always wondered why we never got a Vanden Plas Shooting Brake version as it's the one I really want.Still would though. rml2345, chaseracer and AndyW201 3
inconsistant Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Am I right in thinking that big right hand dial on the dash with the cross does absolutely nothing? Like a huge fake navigational blanking plate? Brilliant! Reminds me of one of these dash mounted compasses that my uncle always used to have in his cars in the 70s and 80s
Richard Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Am I right in thinking that big right hand dial on the dash with the cross does absolutely nothing? Like a huge fake navigational blanking plate? Brilliant! Correct, althoughon my yellow 1500 Super estate it was a giant clock, and on my bitza saloon it was a rev counter.
chaseracer Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 ...a giant clock... Blimey. In true AS fashion, I completely misread that...
Richard Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 So did I after I posted it, I had to look again to make sure the l was there. As well as having a bigger load area than most small estates, the Allegro had another advantage. Few, if any, 1970s estates had any kind of load area cover so all the crap you carried around was on display and got in the way when you wanted to carry a grandfather clock. The Allegro had a compartment under the load floor that was large enough to take jump leads, towrope, oil cans, tool kits, tartan picnic blankets etc, so the load floor was uncluttered.

brickwall Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Thanks again for the upload. Great stuff as usual.
londonm Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Great upload, I think at this point the Eastern Bloc was making better cars than us. Shame Derek Robinson didn't fuck off to Russia at the time really.
