In 1983 my dad grabbed this one from a passing Irish scrap trader...

I still have the back number plate!  His intention was to put it on the road, but the same scrapman came up with another, red one, a few weeks later, which was much better, although IIRC we did swop the rear axles over.  The red van was then painted, by hand...

LTO 655P was a good little van too, having started out in British Rail yellow.  We, and especially I, drove it for several months until sudden and catastrophic failure of the clutch and something else (never investigated what but probably the 1974 axle!) and it then went back to the scrapman, in the company of the brown one which by now we had decided was too rotten.

Although I have long held a love of luxury cars, I have to admire the simplicity of these things.  They really are little more than a box on wheels.  UK equivalent of the Willys Jeep, perhaps?  I'd certainly have another.
