Anyone want some VAJ?!?

I'm not bonding with my red Volvo like I did the blue one. It seems to be stuck in a rut between not dismal enough and not nice enough - it's misery spec rough door cards and lack of spec make it ideal chod but too naff to be a 960. If I had bought a 940 in the same state then I reckon I'd be pretty happy with it seeing as my 740 is almost identical albeit with a leather interior. The way forward seems to be to either get a proper 960 with lashings of loveliness (I have seen some available for cheapness) or something properly brassic so I shall be offering it to anyone on here that fancies it. Full details below (photos pre-cleaning).

If no-one's interested then I'll likely keep it to save it from eBay mongs.

Miles : 125164 at the last fill up
Spec : Misery (well for a 960 anyways). Cloth interior. No cruise control. Air conditioning completely absent. Manual adjust seats. Heated front seats. Heated mirrors. Electric adjust mirrors. Leccy sunroof. Volvo premium audio system inc CD autochanger in boot. Hard floor mats all round. Black hard plastic load bay liner. Grey load cover.
Service history : Naff all documented. That said I have done a full oil change, plug change with Bosch Super-4s and oil / air filters in the last 1000 miles or so. Rear brake pads changed at MoT.

 

Other : Spare matching alloy included with Continental tyre (I'll need to double check this). Original tool kit present. Original touch up paint present. Full interior and exterior valet done after original purchase and still spotless inside.

 

Body condition : Good and straight. Some of the extremeties like door mirrors and bumper corners have scrapes and bashes but nothing too bad. Someone has obviously also not taken any care over the paintwork on the rear ledge when loading stuff. It's scuffed to feck. All metal parts are sound with no rust obvious. Sills good. Arches good. Alloy wheels good also.

Tyres : Front - 2 x Westlake. Rear 2 x Continental. All good tread. Tracking done recently and one of the fronts replaced.

Bad Points:
Door card vinyls lifting off the tops of all doors
Some of the speakers on the N/S seem reluctant to work sometimes. Possibly a loose wire in the speaker or the back of the radio.
N/S mirror does not adjust left / right electrically. Or is it up / down? It's one of the two. In either case, just push it into place.

Knocking noise from somewhere. Mechanic found nothing on the MoT so L.I.D
Rear silencer gummed to get through MoT. Should be ok for another few thousand miles.
Every now and the the CD autochanger stops working (it wasn't new with the car - it's wedged in place with carrier bags). Take it out, unplug, replug and go again.

O/S headlight wiper needs to be 'flicked' manually until the motor stops every time you use the screenwash. You can JUST hear it when the car has stopped.

£500 inc a full tank of juice? It's an 80 litre tank so should get just about anywhere in one go. 27mpg ave on the motorway.
Located about 30-40 mins south east of Glasgow on the bus. Pickup could be done from a city centre station / airport if I'm not working that day.

Lovely! Very well priced with T&T. Id love to waft about in a barge like that. Had I not 2 old estates aleady id be looking for a cheap flight up. TBH id be encouraged by the relative lack of toys as a theres less to play up. Sooo tempted here (as you can tell)

OK, OK, I admit the thread title made me click.

 

What I then saw looks like quite a nice place to slip into, warm and comfy.

 

However it looks as though I might be pulling something a bit more rough and ready from France, so I'd better not allow myself to get too tempted by this VAJ. GLWTS and all that.
