Regrettably I'm out, due to Daihatsu OMGHGF mendage taking precedence.

To think, you could have upped the joy tenfold on our Cannock Motor Auction adventure, by buying another car instead.

Great breakfast, a good giggle at the local dodgy dealers buying their stock and the Autoshite Auction Game.

What could make for a better Saturday?**

**List too long to publish, we do not promise a great breakfast, a good giggle at the local dodgy dealers buying their stock or the Autoshite Auction Game. Disappointing customers will be told to f**k off and have the dogs set on them.

Very tempting, 65 miles and 75 minutes away according to Google Maps

Any more for any more? The burgers are lush and definitely won't* give you stinky trumps all day.

Is there a postcode for the truck stop? I know how to get to Cannock from a map but might need it for the sat nag.

Hang on, I thought we were meeting at the other one?

Well spotted Andy, info now corrected

Cheers. See you all tomorrow .

I'm interested to see the standard of vehicle compared to Leominster Car Auctions, which despite the name is in a village about 3 miles from the town (Hereford/Shropshire borders). Cut my teeth on bangers there back in the early 90s, some of the grimmest vehicles this side of the Marches went through that ring.

The local car breakers I knew refused the contract to clear the unsold stuff as it was so shagged!

Went back a month ago and the standard of vehicle had improved somewhat, much to my surprise, and I was secretly a bit disappointed...

If you don't know who to approach then we usually sit along the windows, looking out in mild confusion as to whether the owner of a fine bit of chod in the car park is a lost autoshiteist or just a local, down on their luck.

If that fails look for a white 205, blue Kia Pride or silver BX estate.

Cars in the Auction tend to be about 8 to 16 years old and most have MOTs, there is a bit of a cheer from the sales crew when something (probably a clocked Audi taxi) staggers up to 4 figures though.

...or a Black M-reg W124 estate. Are we then meeting at the smaller cafe?

Anyone else from the Mids want to tag along? I do pick ups and drop offs in the Stuttgart Taxi.

Hang on, which cafe? I was under the impression it was the truck stop. ...

It is. It's alright, there is another one just down the road (the little one, as Herr Stirling mentioned above) that sometimes we frequent but not tomorrow.

I'll be there closer to ten, I pass the auction place on the way so if I see a procession of chod I'll do a U :-)

A few surprises - some low, like the £300 Partner van, others a little more WTF like the Landcruiser for a millionty pounds (£3500 on an R plate). Well done all, a most enjoyable day out - Young_Master_Pillock now knows to avoid VAG like the plague.

Oooohhh second place!

Good stuff. Despite the quality of chod being better (or worse?) than normal, it did have some very choice shite. Highlights for me were:

Vauxhall Signum 3.2 V6

Ssyanyong Kryon

The most grotty MG TF I have ever seen

The most grotty Kia Picanto I have ever seen

The two most grotty Honda Civics of the 00-06 generation I have ever seen

Not one but two PT Cruisers, including a real dog sans MoT

Hyundai Amica (which was bid to a shockingly high price)

...and a giffer and hoodie bad boy in a bidding war for a nice 75 diesel. The giffer won, he wasn't going to let that car go. He wanted to luxuriate in those blue leather seats, obviously a man of taste and distinction.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, look forward to the next. Luckily the only car I would have actually wanted, the 75, went for around three times my current shite budget.

£300 Partner van

I really thought the little vans would sell for decent money, and I'm really surprised that the ugly eight year old Ssanyongg no-one's ever heard of was so desirable.

Especially as it spent two hours in the yard with the alarm going off, failing to proceed
