slippy feet mot fail fear pedal rubber help?

Preparing for a voluntary MOT (I know, I know...) on the Cowley one thing I know is gonna be a pen-strike is the fact that  there are no pedal rubbers....Throttle is OK not needed but t'other two will.   Not just  no  pedal rubbers on my car there is none in the world.   All gone.  So, knowing some of you other shiters drive the kind of stuff Half-wit-ords think is a brand of pantyliner does  anybody have a way round this?    Grippy stick on surface material, "Universal" rubber, hotrod stuff whatever?

Those have gotta be some fairly standard size pedal rubbers, being BMC. Measure up, make a couple bits of card the same size as the pedals and go nosing around the stores to see what they have that'll fit. Often seen pedal rubbers in vacuum-sealed cardboard packaging, covered in dust for 3.99p in the corner of the local motor factors.

You would think there  would be a BMC match but  appears not at  least according to the club.  There is a guy in Oz who  lists Morris Isis which is the same but when you look at the description it just says Universal which could be 34 aussie bucks plus mail tax down the toobs...That rubber matting is a good shout - I want to go rubber on the floors instead of carpet....

You could inform the tester that they were never fitted, MOT testers manual says:

Vehicles with a smooth brake pedal pad which from manufacture did not incorporate grooves or the fitting of an anti-slip material should not be subject to rejection.

Though you could get caught out if he's tested a few of them recently

Go to a DIY store and get some safety stair tread tape. Stick it to the pedal and trim it neatly. Job done!

Is that really true? No pedal rubber = MoT fail because kittens will die?

What if you wear shoes with rubber soles?

What with all the pre-1950s cars?

Yes, junkman a kitten without the benefit of shielding nun might run in front when I have stepped in its wee...Actually the thing does not NEED an MOT but I would like to get one as it has been off the road since 1997 and as it happens my foot has already slipped off the pedal!   Lucky there were no kittens or nuns just a very unfriendly garage wall.  I think that  might have been oil on my shoes  though!   Some good ideas here  though for  which thanks to all....

Pedal rubbers did nothing when I stepped in derv then got in my old 206, was slippier than a fat bird covered in 5w40. Had to sharply pull over and buy some smart price baby wipes, AND the carpets stunk afterwards.

Apparently, white moccasins provide ideal grip and feel in the absence of pedal rubbers.

You could try "car was made that way mate" with the tester, as long as he's not some old timer who knows you're lying you'll probably get away with it. But the autoshite way? that probably involves wandering the streets picking up all the red rubber bands the postie drops and using them.

The skater tape is actually a really good idea, far better than mine of suggesting you go to Wilkinsons and see if they still do the 'shoe sole repair kits' which is that ribbed rubber matting featured further above in this thread and a tube of appallingly crap glue... for a quid or something.

Well knock down that bloody wall then.

I'd glue two patches of sandpaper on them with a Pritt stick, so that I can tear them off after the car passed its Test.
