To be honest I can see the appeal of these banger rallies to 53-plate-Vectra-driving clones. They think it would be jolly exciting to buy a car for - shock, horror - £200 and actually attempt to drive the thing a long distance. For those of us who routinely do tens of thousands of miles a year in sub-£200 shitters, the appeal is diminished somewhat...

KWALITY. I like these events, mainly because out the 80% IT company car wallies, there is a core of idiots who know there onions - a bit like the guy you chat to at a car show with a chevettte for 3/4 of an hour Its just a bit of freedom really, quite theraputic - I'm not one for the charity angle or sponsership stickers (I did a worthwhile amount for GOSH mind) and the kids love painting the cars. Really its banger racing for those who are frightened of real banger racers/crippling spinal pine (delete as neccesary).
