Ever heard of Lanz Bulldogs?

 

 

Fascinating things. 20-litre one cylinder two-stroke Diesel with surface ignition, i.e. you have to heat the cylinder head until it glows red hot before you can start it. Starting it is by means of taking off the steering wheel and attaching it to the flywheel, then throw-starting it like an old airplane.
