Written out my marching orders for the shite-moving marathon today...

WP_001014.jpg?psid=1

This means going to Malham and back 12 times, and that's without even moving Joe's stuff or Helga...

Its going to be a long day!

You're mad, but I like it.

"Tow samara + trailer with polonez to malham"

"Ride bike back carrying 'A' frame

Take the camera, there could be some damn good calendar shots there!

... where to advise people to park up.

Zipster, if you are the first to arrive, we will have made it obvious when you arrive :D

Posted

I could come over after work on Friday, but I finish at 11.30pm so would arrive around 1am... it would be useful not having to drive over at 8am Saturday morning, but then I'd have to put up a tent and shiz in the dark :/

Posted

Yes as I'm coming in the Samba Cab and I've tried sleeping in it before and it wasn't fun

Looking at Will's "project plan" above for taking his stuff down this afternoon, I think the site may be obvious.

I guess I just follow the piles of rust / broken bits of A frame littering the roads of North Yorkshire

Posted

I've got most stuff packed now. That may be a mistake because it's raining and the Disco is about as water tight as a submarine made of sponge.

Posted

front tyre pumped up 8.04 pez in tank strap tent and sleeping bag to bike

bring blow up doll bed

bring snax

enjoy the twiddly from colne :D

Posted

New axe-throwing target stand constructed, axes sharpened, back seats down in Disco to load kit tonight / tomorrow morning...

Weather forecast for Saturday is good, less good on Sunday though.

Posted

Disco fuelled, loaded with choss, beer box populated, chair found.

Still need to buy milk.

Most importantly - WORK FINISHED

I have a wretched cold today, but it seems to be clearing now.  I have to do battle with the shed doors tomorrow to retrieve the stylish hats Marina hub caps and whatever other junk rare and valuable automotive spares I've hoarded in there before loading up the Princess for Saturday.  Looking forward to this, but I bet I get lost on the way, I always do.

Few hundred metres?

You'll have to drive past the field to get to the pub though, the field is on your right as you enter Malham. It'll have tents, archery targets and chod in it. Difficult to miss... especially with Joe & Will's impressive signage...

Posted

Sadly I won`t be there this year - last year`s do at Betaboy`s was fantastic - however I`m now virtually housebound with my knees. It would be rather foolish to attempt camping... however, I`m hoping to get two new knees this year........ so I can`t wait for next year ! I hope the weather`s kind and you all have a brilliant time......

Postcode shmostcode. (Three mins, you'll see it as you approach Malham).

Take care on that road from Colne to Hellifield, it catches a lot of poeple out, and there'll be wet patches.

Posted

For those using Shatnavs, the Malham Post Office has the post code of BD23 4DA  Malham does look like it's 3 cottages, 4 pubs, a post office and a lot of sheep fields.  I don't think even I could get lost in Malham.

Thank you Twiggy, it was good to meet you last year. Look out for some chodtastic photography.

Another heads-up for the fact we must be on our very best behaviour...

Sense-of-humour failure tally: 1

Reason given: Offensive signage

Action taken: Signage removed

Bugger.

That won't spoil the weekend though, it's still gonna be ace. It's a little wet underfoot, but not muddy and I expect it not to be. Warm boots advisable.

It's getting cooler at night here now, bring that extra blanket!

Posted

I did wonder if the politer form of Chodfest might have been better for signs...

One sleep and a morning of bus duty away now!

Posted

sense of humour failure??

and they live in yoksher?

say it as ya see it (coming from a manc :D)

I plan to arrive on Saturday, but at the moment, am not sure of when.  If I can drag myself out of bed early enough and arrive before 11am, will there be any chance of passengering on the OVROAD part?

Posted

Of course Cameron.

You better be there, were not waiting for you..

Posted

I was planning to write out an epic thread with today's' chod moving stories.

But 11 hours later I am so knackered I really can't face it.

I would love to tell you about when my Niva caught fire this morning but as I said, sleep takes precedent over chod-bothering.

The stories will have to wait.

Night all.

You fuckers better have fun, or else.

Can I steer something offroad? I've not arranged anything with anyone yet but would like to passenger up too =)

Posted

We've not allocated passengers to 4x4s on Saturday - too formal for us. We'll sort it out at the time, no sweat. I guess people might like to swap and change too.

I only have one spare seat, and I don't want to be stuck with the same old dullard all day :D

Samba Cab ... I've tried sleeping in it before and it wasn't fun

'That Beige Polonez' is on the scene - why not kip in that? You know how fun* that can be.

Also someone said they're bringing a BFO family tent (Andy_CMS?) with loadsa space for others shiters.

Posted

I've a tent like.. probs will turn up Friday night / very early Sat morning will everyone still be up at 1am? Will the field be on fire by then???

Posted

No, no fire!

I'm sure there'll still be people up.

I've had only 2 hours 20 min sleep, after a run of 4-hour nights, so I hope to be in bed by then!

Posted

Are you all going to be putting your keys into a bowl?

Also, one of you at least should also attempt the off-road bit in a 'normal' 2WD car just for a laugh.

Posted

If it was private land, I think some two-wheeling would be amusing. Cocking about on the lanes doesn't really work though. Bad time for greenlaning as the Peak District has just closed a popular one. It's a sport that's becoming as popular to most people as shooting kittens. Which is bloody irritating.

That said, I have taken the 2CV greenlaning a few times. The scrapes and fact I almost knocked the exhaust crossbox off once suggest a bit more ground clearance would be handy...
