So, long story short, I've been offered one of these barges for £300.

It's a 2000 model with a 3.5 auto - the biggest attraction for me so far.

It has been owned by the same lovely chap since new, who did 158k in it and retired it to the back of the driveway after upgrading to the new Legend.

It obviously has no T&T but has wanted for nothing mechanically over its life.

Now I'm not posting this to ask if it makes economic sense, as there's not much to lose at all. BUT, is it worthy of being my 13th member of rare old shite nobody wants and tying up another little packet of money? It'll not be a daily obviously, just admired and taken for a waft occasionally like the others. It'll fit in well with that 3.5, but they're just awfully.... Japanese :?

Are they the equivalent of an overpowered Avensis? Will it bore the tits off me in the same way? I know F all about them. Owners reviews most welcome.

I've heard they're pretty mega and a no brainers at that cash. The only weak point seems to be the gearboxes. I bet bits are expensive though.

After looking at a few cars with stellar mileages in recent years, I'd say this has to be a real bargain.

I'm pretty sure you can run around in this for a while and offload it easily for the same or more money.

I'd expect this sort of car can easily achieve 250~300k miles without much trouble, if serviced accordingly.

I had one few years ago, went well enough, leaking fuel tank eventually killed it. Bits are hugely expensive. And I was slightly underwhelmed by performance, it's not big risk as 300 quid though. ;)

Had a shot of one of these a few years ago. Didn't like driving it as I'm not a Honda fan but it was pleasant enough. Much preferred being a passenger as they're mega comfy in the back and excellent cruisers. Bits are both expensive and difficult to source in many cases but they seem pretty reliable. Front wheel drive for mega comedy understeer.

At that sort of money it's a no brainer!

Thanks lads. Just as I thought - very pleasant but getting nobody hot under the collar!

Are you not a bit...errr...young :D

The Legend is a classic golf club car park chariot, for those who find a Lexus LS just too exciting

Just because there hasn't been a massive response doesn't mean it's not worth getting. I expect few on here have experience of those motors but I bet I'm not the only one who'd roll in one of these no danger.

Can't see how you could possibly lose out at that sort of money and if you get bored of it bang it back on here for sale.

Having never driven or ever even been in one of these, I can give them an unqualified recommendation.

You will simply not get blander executive enormity for your cash. GIGA-WANT 4000.

It's got a quad cam v-tec v6 engine man get it bought! I recon it'll be a fantastic thing to waft around in, if I got the chance of one for 300 quid I'd be all over it like a dug eating beetroot.
