Last chance to buy the Rover 220SLi

I have done my trip to Longbridge and in total done 1670 miles trouble free, the time has come to pass it on. So same old deal £100 for the car plus the road tax at £36 to the 30th July if you want it. You will have to collect it from Buckingham, I can collect you from a local station such as Bicester, Aylesbury or Milton Keynes. Now the whinge please contact me with a plan to pick it up in a reasonable time scale and stick to it. Keep me informed of your progress to give me confidence that you will arrival on the appointed day.

If you have asked me before and now feel you can collect the car then that is fine and you are welcome to it, as long as you don’t muck me about.

If you want to do a swap what have you got to tempt me? If yours is MOTed I am confident the Rover will go anywhere and I will do the drive.

Reminder the car runs very well has an MOT 4th November but is a bit tatty in places and has a very long horizontal crack in the windscreen. Slight dip of engine coolant from around the waterpump - I tipped a bottle of radweld into the cooling system following advice it could be the waterpump to housing O ring leaking water and have not had to add a drop of water or seem a drip for the last 600 miles. Remember I am selling it for £100 the same as Mr Bo11ox sold it to me for in the hope someone to do the windscreen and keep the car going not to just scrap it for £50 profit.

Last chance - in a few days I will advertise it on another forum or ebay it or maybe even scrap it so don’t come back and complain you were not given a chance.

I thought Station was having this?

I thought Station was having this?

Station can still have it, but last time days passed before replying to my PMs and he never came up with a collection date even after two weeks. So the first person to get in touch with a definite YES and a plan gets it.

Still no one has said YES and given me a plan for collecting the Rover 220 SLi.

One thought I am going to the Cholmondeley event on Sunday with my Citroen Visa, so there is the chance of a free lift back to Buckingham Sunday night to collect the Rover 220 SLi.

Posted

If there's anyone who could give you a lift back (should it be needed) then why not bring the Honda and advertise it at Chumley?

Posted

I want to bring the Visa in the hope I can get some photos with its cousins the Peugeot 104, Samba and LNA.

Posted

I knew we were not going to get a full house this time, but 50+ mpg from the Visa makes it a big mileage favourite anyway.

It's not as bad as it looks, just a single handed method of collection. Yes the Rover 220SLi has a new home with Mastervan who is going to use the Rover as daily transport and has promised to keep us informed of its progress.

Brilliant! I hope he gets some Linseed/Peanut Butter or bumper restorer on those bumpers (he'll have to change that rear bumper though)

Posted

I emptied a can of vinyl bumper restorer on it for the Longbridge event but it didn’t last long.

Yeh, I did notice it looked clean. I really must own one of these, or indeed this car at some point. Thing is though, when I buy a car, its for life.

This is the problem I have with my wife, she likes to keep every car she buys and almost every car I buy. The trouble is I love buying cars but in the end one just runs out of room and money to look after them properly. We have now reached full.

Now what did I just say, keep you collection in check, while I am off to collect our new ebay “Buy it Now†purchase this afternoon! Mad

Ya bugger!

Go Phil, save me from this one.

I SO can't anyway, I had to jump through hoops for Graham's red one, and that made me do horrible things to the blue 214...

It's a distinct possibility, the timing's right and I can almost justify it to myself.  Just looking at the cheapest way to get from deepest Devon to Northamptonshire, National Express cheapest so far if I can stand 7 hours on a bloody coach.

The other half is not likely to be impressed, I have been banned from buying an old Volvo so this is the next best thing...

On that topic, just found the original RR thread, impressive work Mr B.  Methinks a trip oop north might be coming up in a couple of weeks.  Couldn't find a single 220 R8 on ebay that wasn't a coupe, must be a rare combo now.  I believe it's a Honda lump isn't it?

Posted

no, the engine is 100% free of honda content, hence why it pisses oil out all the flaming time

I really enjoyed owning the Rover and even all the abuse I got when finding the cheapest way to collect it!

Luckily I have a bottle of linseed oil to see to those bumpers.  I see it has a sunroof and rear headrests too, swanky!

Posted

Sweet! Can't wait to see this with its bumpers all 'Linseeded' up.

Currently en route to Corby. There might be a collection thread later if you're good.
