I know the grand sum of FUCK all about old skool BMXs but i fancy one,is there anyone on here with any knowledge of these bikes,i know about Raleigh choppers but nothing about the BMX,i want something to cruise about on,not to jump of the nearest cliff...

Sorry i know this is a naughty thread and not car related but i,am not a member of any BMX forums.

I really like this i,ve spotted but not sure if its good or will get laughed at if any diehard BMX fans saw it.

I do, been collecting them for 15 years!

That is a nice bike but if you are a full grown adult the old 80's bikes are a bit short for regular riding. I'd look for an early 90's ride like an S&M Holmes as they had a longer top tube and are stronger.

Have a look on radbmx.co.uk or if you are local to me in Crewe I might have something stashed away that could be suitable.

Hi

Very helpful,i understand about being a bit small but it wouldn,t be ridden much,my boy is only 5 so can,t go far yet on his bike.

Is the Skyway built with good bits? and what about the price, this isn,t a Skyway TA its a Streetbeat,is that crap in BMX circles?

£700?

Christ on a BMX, I think I need to start looking for some of them. I'm knocking out (modern, nothing special) BMXs for about £20-£35 a time.

Pop round Billy, I'll show you a couple that will make your eyes water!

As for the Streetbeat, the frame/forks is worth about £200. It has new tuffs, the horrible repro MX1000 brakes, a one piece crank so I don't really think it is worth £700 myself.

I'll keep an eye out and see if anything looks good for the right price..

I'll take you up on that one day mate, cheers! I have had a sneaky look at some old skool BMXs on eBay etc but they make good money and I'd be worried about getting robbed off by a fake one or something!

This is the info i need,IF i wanted to do a deal one this bike i don,t want to buy one and get caught out!!

Are the calipers just wrong or crap in use, could i get proper white calipers?

I think new old stock original MX1000's are fetching about £200 a set now but those repros are £50 odd quid.

To be honest, I haven't bought or sold anything for a while and prices are only going one way - up! You used to get quite a few full bikes on rad for sale but there is more money in buying and splitting these days.

Have a look through the for sale bit on there and see if there is anything else.

Will do,i have just had this reply from the seller.

Hello mate thanks for your interest yes it is an original skyway streatbeat from 1984 85 yes it is totally as new I've tried to keep everything as good as it could be everything on the bike is nos 80s except the brakes 80s reproductions but not copies skyway wheels which are reproductions but exactly the same 80s and skyway pad set reproduction original used pad set can sell for up to 400 pound on eBay just 4 the pads I done it in this way because I wanted every part to be immaculate you can get origionals but they will be a bit messy and will need renovation on each part as for is it a respected bike in my eyes you couldn't have better as for cruising you won't be getting very far on it without a million questions about it it's unbelievable as for interest in the bike I had 72 watchers and 898 page views so I was surprised it did not sell for the 800 it's has cost me 800 in parts alone but a lot more in petrol and postage costs which I'm not trying to ad up to much but I will take 700 for it thanks for your interest
