Corsa C trouble

Some friends are having trouble with thier corsa c, engine management light coming on and going into limp mode.

Error codes are

P1120 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 1 High Input C-08

P1120 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 1 Low Input C-08

P1120 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 1-2 Correlation C-08

P1122 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 High Input C-08

P1122 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 Low Input C-08

They have had both the pedal assemply replaced and the throttle body potentiometer and neither made any difference. They have not long had a replacement engine in after water pump failure and I reckon there must be a bad connection or earth somewhere, having said that both new parts fitted where second hand. I was just wondering if there were any other main suspects before they call an auto sparks out?

Cheers

She doesnt know. But they are a decent honest garage who seem to know what they are doing so I would reckon so.

I'd clear the codes, and see what happens. If the problem persists, I'd suspect the s/h throttle body control

I have come across this before with Vauxhalls generally where they intermittantly loose their 5volt reference voltages at the pedal.

There should (i think) from memory be 5v at the red/white and the red/blue cables to the throttle pedal.

The hard part is testing for a lost feed when it wont happen in the workshop.

All the under bonnet wiring and esp the multi plug to the ecu needs carefully checking for corroded or damaged pins. and check all the little earth wires are secure.

If the ecu is failing and loosing its 5v output, then its possible to 'borrow' a 5v feed from another engine sensor and run it to the pedal (splice in at the ecu end of the loom).

You got to love modern shite...

If it helps, my mrs old corsa c (2002) refused to work the central locking with the plip, and did not alarm itself.

Under the bonnet, right at the top by the windscreen passenger side is a black box with torx screws. Pull the battery. Then I took that off, hoiked to the ECM/ECL? module, pulled the power from it, had a rolly (15 mins), then plugged it all back in.

and it worked! No idea if the issues above run through it but looking on the corsa c forum it seems to cure most random issues.

I did drop a screw though, so be careful.

I've been given that advice quite a few times on the French Car Forum, sometimes it has even worked!
