Currently looking for a diesel motor and saw this on egay

and I have to say that interior looks feckin awesome, it's a sea of poo brown and biege and I want it.

I reckon admitting to liking a rover 75 must be a sign that I'm getting older.

Anyone got one of these? what are they like to live with?

The Rover 75 is on my bucket list, all thanks to sitting in one at a dealership when they were new. Estate, metallic black, diesel. I will own one some day, maybe.

Nothing wrong with a Rover 75. I've a hankering for a diesel model too.

I know there's nowt wrong with them, they just have the "old man" image to contend with. Was wondering if anyone had one and were there any major flaws?

Skattrd suggested that I should buy an estate so he can have it when I've had enough of it.

I have a mate with a diesel one and i have fitted back springs 3 times on driverside and twice now on passenger side  dont think the car can be blamed for that though.

the front lower wishbone bushes are a great idea and very cheap to buy but who ever thought it was a good idea to bolt them in from the top wants dragged out into the street and shot  the bolt comes out so far then the body gets in the way

The engine is really sweet and its now done 62k miles but when in reverse it feels like the engine is trying to escape.

i would still have it though and would love the rwd v8 one that would be a pretty fun car and a real nice place to be sat in when heading backwards into the nearest wall

Get it right bro, you need a diesel, auto, estate with aircon & cruise, pref a cdti, but cdt will do .... I don't care about colour though

I do think the estate looks less "old man" than the saloon for some reason.

Steve (109landy3) had a V6 waggon, and it was rather nice, I think he clocked up quite a few miles in it as well. Not seen him around recently though.

I think 75's are fugging awesome, I have totally wanted one for the last 2 years now. In my opinion no other car of that decade can touch it for genuine character. I'm 33 and couldnt care less if some folk see it as 'old man', they are supposed to be a superb drive.

The Conny spec is ace with the Aubergine leather - what other car can lay claim to that? It also has the Union 16inch upgrade alloys.

Only thing to watch for on the manuals is the clutch as they can be a weak point. Some garages give stupid book times for changing one out but if you join the owners forum they will point you to a Rover specialist or at least sympathiser.

My folks neighbour has a red example, otherwise identical to 'your' one and never uses it now, it just sits in his garage. Waiting for the day he wants to get rid...

Love the 75 me. Yes, a 4.0 V8 75 would suit me down to the ground, but the for those are a little over the top. The ZT doesnt interest me as much, its little too sporty for my liking.

A 2.5 high spec 75 is also on my bucket lost at some point. Could t give a toss what 'image' it holds, if I like a particular car and I can have it, that is all what matters.

I was watching this too, amazing it didn't sell.

Dunno about diesels but I say go for it.

Mine is an earlyish 2.0 KV6 in Club spec: I'll see your poo brown leather and raise you endless beige velour. I bought it about a year ago from Wuvvum as it was cheaper than fitting a wired-up towbar to my Skoda (collection thread here).

It's very comfy and a relaxing, pleasurable drive. It makes me smile. It'll wake up and perform when needed, but is happier just wafting - a good balance. It grumbled when I got stuck in motorway jams but never actually boiled; I do always have that KV6 owner's feeling of the Head Gasket of Damocles dangling above my head. I'm also playing Russian Roulette with the cambelt.

A few minor things have gone wrong: ABS sensors, which always go; airbag light, which needs me to jiggle a wire under the seat occasionally; a new starter motor (easy DIY); various light bulbs that are much harder to change than the starter motor, annoyingly; new driver's door seal that cost an eye-watering £100; door locks prone to jamming, probably due to dampness from the failed door seal. Overall though it feels very well nailed together.

Like IainL, I couldn't care less whether people think it's an old man's car. I'm 43, so people who think about such things probably consider me old anyway.
