Who fancies Carina?

I need an MGF in my life, an itch I need to scratch, so Carina must move on. An early E, made in Japan. 2,000,000 mililiter engine ,alltaefuck gearbox, and specced in "executive" trim. Has an MOT until September, which it passed with no advisories and a comment on its good condition by the tester, which is always encouraging. Its got quite a few electrical goodies, which in old Toyota tradition still work perfectly. 4 windows, sunroof, central locking by radio control, heated windscreen at the bottom to melt the ice off the wipers, ABS.. quite a list for 1992! Huge boot with fold down seats, and a towbar I fitted but have never used, for a caravan that never materialised. Even managed to find and fit the headlamp washers, which are always missing,AND fix the aerial. Tax is oot today, but that can be sorted .

Oh, and genuine 65 thousand miles and FULL service history, mostly by Toyota. Just had a service, new plugs etc.Belt and pump was done by Toyota at about 40000. No rust at all, just a few small marks here and there as is normal.

value? no idea. It's a bloody good car, which has years (and years) left in it if looked after, needs nothing. 650 ish notes? I need enough to get an MGF with a missfire and a leaky hood at least.

Some wannabe doctor photos.. but without the backdrop of a stately home, hoovering the interior, or even waiting or the sun to come out, but I did remember to switch the foglights on.

Oh, so that's what that button with the picture of a windscreen and a squiggly line is for then.

They're great, reliable cars.

I will be selling an MGF next month with 12 months MOT and tax. It has a nearly new engine, I did the belt, head bolts, and head gasket (hadn't even had HGF), new clutch, new under floor pipes, etc. It's had shitloads spent on it. It's getting a tidy up currently and will be good as new in a couple of weeks, I'm fixing everything on it. Will be v. cheap as the ex wants a quick sale, smaller car and doesn't really need it anymore, I bought it for her in 2007. It's standing a little bit too high as it's just been pumped up. New bonnet, wings, all rust removed. ;)

They were a very good car indeed, and built to stand up to a bit of abuse as well. Comfortable and roomy inside too

Duly entered into memory banks! That would be ideal, but looks like you've done everything already. Tinkering would be obsolete :(

MGF? Why not. I did a little selling a couple of weeks ago and bought this on ebay:

Cost me £390 which included a set of front discs and pads. MOT £50, hydragas pump up £40 and a boot mounted brake light £26. Job done.

Ooer.....

Is it a hatch back Tiff?

My Baur was back into daily use until last week when it lunched its oil pump and the m20 destroyed itself.its going into bavarian retro for a 2.5 fitting but that will take ages. I need a respectable car to see clients etc.

You still got it?

Absolutely nothing to do with it, but I once knew a bloke who was married to a girl called Carina. I fancied her!

I think I still have it :) I work so many days now it spends all it's time in a nice heated bodyshop while I drive around in a van.

Not a hatchback- boot is huge with the option of folding down the rear seats too. Forgot to say too- it has a very nice Alpine stereo in it, all hooked up to an Ipod which lives in the glovebox- controlled and charged by the stereo. It could be thrown in in a bit of a deal.

I really like these I had a dark turquoise L reg 1.6 XLi hatchback from 2002-2004 and loved it, bought it for the bargain price of £850 at auction (£910 with fees) very cheap for a 9 year old car that was immaculate inside and out (dealer trade in). In 2003 me and the girl I was with at the time drove all around Ireland for two weeks with all our camping gear a great car and a smart looker too.

Yours is in the best colour they did them in (imo) and the second best colour was gold and strangely enough I saw a gold one today on a K reg (they are also available on a J plate believe it or not). Body wise they don't appear to rust much unlike the previous Carina II. It will be a shame when Britain's roads are void of Carina E's (around 2016 I guess) and nobody (outside of Autoshite) will notice they have gone.

That is a properly tidy car - Is it burgundy or that purpley colour you get? not sure from the pics. Cruise control?

I used to find these dull but strangely appealling now

It's called Damson, a purplish which sparkles a bit in the sun, quite unusual
