BMW 525 TDS SE

I've started trading the odd car and thought this one may be well favoured on here :D

It's a 1994 E34 525TDS SE in that dark green that they all seemed to be! Only had 2 owners from new, last guy had it since 1998. It's done 175k miles, so nicely run in and I've just put 12 months MOT on it. The previous owner was disabled so officially it's not taxed and will need a trip to the local office to change the tax class (although if you do a DVLA search on it, it shows as being taxed until May. Use that information as you wish). It has power steering, 4 elec windows (all working), elec sunroof, elec mirrors, central locking (which I've got working properly). For the MOT it needed a new bottom ball joint and a brake flexi hose. It had an advisory of a small hole in a rear floorpan (can picture if needed, it's nowt to worry about), a missing exhaust hanger and a tyre close to the limit. I've swapped the tyre for the spare which was better. All 4 tyres should now last around another year and all are Dunlops. It also has quite a neat hidden, detatchable towbar with twin electrics, behind a removable panel in the bumper (I've not tested this, but presume it works).

There's some bits of history with it up to 1998, but not much after, but you can tell it's been looked after. It has a fairly new looking radiator and appears generally well kept. It had trouble starting from cold (had to do about 15 cycles on the glowplugs when reeally cold!) so I replaced them, except I forgot that it was 6 cylinder and only ordered 4  Therefore, it's 100x better than it was, but if it's been left overnight, you need to cycle them 2-3 times, then it's fine. I'm sure if you were to do the remaining 2 it would start after 1 cycle. All other times it starts instantly.

There is a slight rattle from the OSF over bumps, it's a worn anti-roll bar link. I intended to fit a new one but don't have the correct socket, so I'll just supply it with the car. Other than that it drives well; steers and stops straight, goes well and sounds quite nice for a diesel! I've done around 150 miles in it and grown quite attached to wafting about in it. Also has that nice BMW clunk when you close the door :)

Bodywork is clean and straight for the year. Bonnet edge is stonechipped as expected, one arch has a small bubble, there are several small dents/marks but nothing worrying enough to photograph. The interior is clean and tidy with the usual wear to the driver's seat.

Seems quite good on diesel and I'm pretty sure it's ok to run on veg oil (I think it's a bosch pump, same engine was used in the Range Rover and Omega). Old fashioned indirect injection, no DPF, DMF etc etc to worry about.

I'll be putting it up elsewhere for more, but my bottom line on it is £750, so if anyone on here wants it for that, you can have it and it'll be a nice old bus for you :D

Any questions, please ask.

Why has your Siamese twin got a shoe for a head?

I'm also a part time human cloner and that one went wrong.

They are indeed. Fair amount left on all of them though and they turn up on eBay quite regularly.

First thing most would do once tyres are needed is to swap over for 15/16 " wheels as the metric tyres cost more for a set than you want for the whole car ! Looks a nice old wagon

WOULD

+1

I really like the look of these, always have done, I nearly bought an identical 525 petrol version before it seemed to have disappeared.

I love how agricultural these sound compared to later six-pot diesels. They make a lovely-but-very-diesel growl. Looks nice.

This supposedly sold on ebay yesterday and guess what.....up to now, 2 emails sent and no contact whatsoever from the "person" who bidded on it 3 times to win it. So it looks like that's not going to happen, therefore if anyone wants it, it's now £650. Bargainous!

99 feedback as well, to be fair maybe he's been away for the rest of the weekend or something? Sadly though the 'kids pet hamster fell on the bid button' story is likely to come out.

You should of part-ex'd it at WARCRAFT for a much newer 5 Series.

Can't say as I'm hopeful. I'll give it until the morning then it's going back on, why do people do this!?

Welcome to the world of back street motor trading.

I really need to advertise a few cars this week and get some new stock. Been too busy with other aspects off my life for the last fortnight.

That might be a bit harsh considering what day it is. They might well be away for the day/weekend?

They weren't. Quelle surprise. Have to wait until the 13th to open a case now. Winds me up!!

This is still here after ebayer number 2 pissed me around. He won the car, arranged a time and day to come and collect it the following week (meaning I had to arrange work around it), then never showed up, no contact, nothing. At least number 1 had the decency not to arrange anything!!

Make me an offer if it appeals. It won't be going on ebay again!

DAT IS WELL PHIT M8.

Seriously, if had the money, that would mine, I would get shot of my fiesta for this. I miss my old 520i but but rather a diesel lump.

Good luck matey

Why not do the 'second chance offer' thing for the next highest bidder?

Posted

It didn't really make enough the second time round. I'll try it on autotrader and gumtree. Might try and sort the other 2 glow plugs 1st.
