Ok so while this thread is at the top I have a suggestion.

 

How about doing some thing positive and forming a sort of investment club, say a fiver a week, build up some funds then having a few punts, collectively there must be transport, storage and facilties. Genuine suggestion, any views.

Here's my shit idea, .........dual threads.

One of the restoration of a car that was going to be bangered ( actually bangered, not just assumed it would be because it's a rusty old shit box on the 'bay with zero bidding activity)

And one of a banger racer building and preparing a car (again no assumptions, they are not all westys/p5s/mk10s, last banger race i went to had the under 1500cc class competeing......three quarters of the field were almeras, the rest various 15-ish year old euro chod.)

Pro bangers could comment on the race car build, anti on the restoration. That way both sides could see what's involved in each scenario.

That added bonus being it would (hopefully) confine this subject to just two threads, either one of which people could ignore at leisure.

Either that or lock this motherfucker, and everyone puts the toys back in the pram and shuts the fuck up.

last time i went raceing at arlington near eastbourne it was mk2 mondeos,kas and general shit like that.my boss raced a riley 4/62 at the a60 meeting last year and we were welding that up for 3 weeks and even then i thort he was fucking mad.but we restore classic cars for a liveing,weve just spent the last 18mths doing an austin a55 van,mk1 cortina estate thats on ebay at the mo.and weve got anouther a55 van,2 door mk5 tina.mk1 pre aeroflow 2 door gt tina,sierra xr4i and a few outhers waiting to be done.
