Cars for the tall: Peugeot 504?

I may be persuaded to part with my Audi 100 Avant,

It's a 1.8 on LPG, so costs buttons to run.

Could do with a couple of minor jobs doing, namely a handbrake cable and the exhaust bandaging up.

I can confirm its quite comfy. No back pain for me in the 100 when I had it. Actually very very comfortable.

All food for thought.

The XM. I had one and loved it; best car I've ever had and was very comfy. That said, I hated working on it and it went wrong in a big way a few months after I sold it. This was partly what has driven me to prefer simpler cars.

Volksy's Audi 100. Although it was an Audi seat that broke me, I am semi-tempted. Any interest in a swap with my 80?

The Jap pseudo-mpv's do not really tempt me; a bit too shit-boxy, and Japanese cars do tend to be built for smaller types.

The Omega and e34 are not things I had consider; will think about.

It's a worry the 505 seats are seemingly shite; makes me hold out less hope for the overpriced 504...

Thanks all!

504s have better seats than 505s, IIRC. Long time since I went in either though.

Would a Montego dizzler be worth considering?

I used one as a taxi 15 years ago and never suffered the back pain other vehicles inflicted, seem to recall it was quite roomy but as I'm a foot shorter than you my idea of interior space and yours may differ!

Thinking about your specific problem, I'd look for something with an extendable steering column, so that you can sit far enough back in comfort, but have the steering wheel as close [or as far] away as is comfortable.

Tagora is extremely comfy and has plenty legroom, 504, both GL and CC (front only of course), are very good as well. I am 2m tall

Here are said seats *. I am now driving a 93 Audi Coupe which is on an audi 80 platform and can say that I find the seating position of the 100 and the actual seat completely different.

Cant comment on whether or not he fancies an 80 in exchange but thought I would try and help.

*Its just the velour in different directions there, the seats are clean

Fuck it, I think might have made my mind up. I'm going to be brave and get another XM....

Thanks to all.

I am a fair bit taller than your 6 feet 6" and have always enjoyed the vast seats in my XM, bought new by me in 1992. I have done over 170,000 miles in that and no issues at all regarding comfort.

Have you considered a Grand Espace or Grand Voyager? Both have high positions and are great if your legs are long (39 inch inside leg for me and very comfy, thanks).

I found my Cavalier SRi to be infinitely more comfortable than anything else I'd ever driven, in terms of everything adjusting (Seat height, Lumbar, Steering wheel height and so on.

My "L" spec was a bit of a bitch to drive today, but then I've been used to my perfectly average;

Ford Fiesta 3 door. 10 times better than the 5 door as the actual door opening is big enough. My only issue is my car being the base model, I don't have a centre console, but a bubble shaped box in front of the gear lever that I inevitably kick the crap out of when driving fast...

But I guess a Fiesta for someone who's taller than me (196cm) is a pathetic option. (I still get 4 people in, just! - I wouldn't go Cambridge to Cornwall in it, though!)

A BX with those itchy looking grey cloth seats is about the most comfortable car in existence. I'm 6ft 3 or so and never had a seconds bother with BX seats, supremely comfortable would be an understatement.

I don't know if the 504 has the utterly STUPID curvy seat rails the 604 suffers from. If it does, don't buy one. Stupid idea. If you're not a certain size and shape you'll never get comfy driving one. I found with the 604 that if I had the seat all the way back the front of the cushion was too high, move the seat forward and the rear of the cushion was too high. Then the seat jammed in place, so I left it.

Ok, I'll bite. How tall are you, Brad?

Please don't say very.

Very.

Just under 8 feet 3 inches. About 18 inches under.
