splatthefat Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Do I or don't I? Been offered a swap for my Mondeo, for a Volvo V70 2.4SE. Pros for Volvo are half the mileage, (92,000 v 184,000), full service history, full leather, cheaper to tax and the car is in very nice condition. Cons are it's 3 years older, heater doesn't work (but I know what's wrong and it's a cheap fix), short MOT (Feb 21st, mind you the Mondy is only MOTed to April), unknown quantity factor, uses more petrol (but not that much) and is dearer to insure. So Do I or don't I? Your input very welcome.
chaseracer Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I know what I'd do, but I've had a Volvo and I'm not a fan of Mundanos. That's not entirely helpful, is it...?
Skizzer Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I haven't even read past the thread title and already I'm saying DO IT.
splatthefat Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 This is said Volvosaurus http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/volvo-v70estatefull-main-dealer-history/1007469128#gallery-item-full-1
Richard Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 On the face of it I would say yes, but the deal looks to be so massively in your favour that I can't help thinking there's a hidden problem with the Volvo.
splatthefat Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 To be fair the dealer is a mate (in fact his forecourt is my front garden) he does owe me a few favours, and he likes selling Mondeos.
purplebargeken Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Nah, keep the Mon.......... actually, no. Not ever. Just get the darn Volvo will ya!!!!!!!! Just as long as it doesn't smell of wee, old people and digestive biscuits.
Albert Ross Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Well it's a local car to you, it would appear that it's seen no hill starts, therefore do it. If you don't do it now, you never will. Mondeos are ten a'penny, but Vulvas are exclusive stuff.
Cavcraft Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Christ, yeah! He's never going to sell the Volvo for his asking price in a million years so you may as well do the deal.
Charlie Croker Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I would!! It seems that would benifit both sides as the Volvo is the better car but the Mondeo will sell off the forcourt quicker so win win.
barmatt Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Hell yeah, Vulva over mundano any day and I can see the sellers point that Fords sell a lot easier than ovlov's, god knows why though
John F Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 High mileage, but what about this cheapie Ovlov V70 Estate? viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15794 (and see how much your garage mate will offer you for your Mondeo )
