Lankytim Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Hi Gang, Here's the Grandad-in-laws Skoda Fabia. It's up for sale as he's died and doesn't need it anymore. Anyway, its a 1.4 16v petrol, nearly 70k on the clock, garaged from new, I think it has a full history but will have to check. Starts drives and stops great but the clutch is on the way out- it can still be driven anywhere though. All the tyres look recent and its an all- round nice motor! The alarm keeps going off when its locked up, I think the bonnet sensor needs cleaning- I'll have a look at that when I get chance. Body wise it's in good shape apart from a bit of bubbling behind the front mudflaps and a bit of orangepeel paint on a couple of panels. It was vandalised a few years ago and the repair job wasn't 100% perfect, also the engine management light is illuminated. It's an ongoing problem, the garage switches it off and after a few months it comes back on again. Apart from that it's actually very nice! I fancied keeping it for ourselves but Mrs Lankytim doesn't wan't to drive her dead Grandad's car so it's got to go. MOT, will have to check.Tax till August 2013. £600 please! I'f it doesn't sell I'll overrule the Wife, sell her Astra estate and make her drive around in this, as I think it's a fab little car and will be pretty good on petrol. Collection from Stoke on Trent!
warren t claim Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I thought this was valued on here by an "expert" at £1000?
Guest Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Looks reet. What you need to do now is put a vRS bodykit and wheels on it, and drive around like a colossal twat. That's what all the dub mongs near me do. Then you need to drift* around the roundabouts in Trafford Park with Flip N' Fill blasting out to be wel gud an shit. Or you could just use it as a car. UR RIDE UR RULESZ.
Cavcraft Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I thought this was valued on here by an "expert" at £1000? *Our internet lawyers are watching.
RedSparrow Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Looks like a little bargain to me. GLWTS.
Morgan84 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 The management lamp issue could just be a lambda sensor perhaps, but a code reader will be far more exact ! Not a bad colour/speciforcation so with some tlc should give a few years decent service
pandarus Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 That's a nice car for the money...I owned a Fab estate once and also a Felicia. Clutch went on mine too, funnily enough.
oldford Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I thought this was valued on here by an "expert" at £1000? It would be £1000 to £1500 from a garage with its problems sorted, a service and a fresh MOT. I've seen and sorted plenty of those with an engine management light on, never seen a rusty one though. Not a bad colour that Dynamic Blue.
Lankytim Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 I've never seen a rusty one either. Any interest in this folks? I don't wanna ebay it!
Lankytim Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE 250 WATCHERS AND NO BIDS. STOP WASTING MY TIME I WILL NOT RELIST AGAIN JUST BID NOW!!!
Lankytim Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 Ok, not a huge amount of interest here. Any ideas on the best way to flog a motor such as this? I've had success selling old bangers on RR and on here but I'm not too clued up on selling more modern metal. PH is no longer free I hear? How about Autotrader?
cort16 Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Just find your local gumtree site. Othwe than the inevitable texts of "WUD US SWAP FOR SMALL PYGMI HORSE AND BETAMAX VIDEO RECOOORDER " it's free and ideal for selling cars like this.
MikeKnight Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I bought my Honda on gumtree, fantastic site and most people who use eBay regularly just go to eBay soooo... upside is generally fewer twats. Downside is fewer people see the ad. If I'd not already got my Honda I'd have that off you in a heartbeat. That'll make someone a lovely daily drive.
Lankytim Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Bumtree it is then. Found out the MOT expires on 10/5/13, Here's the MOT history. Very clever this internet thing. Lankytim Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Any serious interest in this? Had a couple of offers from people that turned out to be messers. I hate selling motors!
binboy Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 This cars drives great, with a new clutch it will be perfect. Thanks
Morgan84 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Always nice when a decent car gets a second chance
