Value of 1994 Rover 214

A friend's neighbour has an M-reg Rover 214 three-door that she is planning to scrap, but before she does, does anyone have any opinion on whether they are worth anything (a possible appreciating classic?)? If not, are there any Rover enthusiasts who could suggest some rare parts that she should strip off it that might make her some money before weighing it in?

Many thanks for any advice.

Any photos? I do appreciate that uploading photos can be a right PITA though, especially from an iPad (rant  )

Would have thought £400 ish if not too rubbish/rusty?

With military precision?

"8.59am - leave house

9.01 am - check coolant and oil

9.12 am - attend to overheating and major loss of coolant. Repeat as required

4.54pm - finally arrive at weighbridge"

Is it an SEi? They're garnering a slight following as they're usually in a nice colour with a nice spec. In that case, a decent Ebay ad with good pictures might get a decent bit of income (as in probably no more than £500 but it's more than scrap value!).

The big key to a valuation is finding out why's its being scrapped

If it needs major work then its probably going to the right place. Assuming it looks ok and just hadn't been taken for an MOT/looks like it won't want much then £200 should be the absolute max as that's enough above scrap price to tempt seller but not so much it'll be economically unviable.

94 car will have the closed-deck block, so less prone to OMGHGF. SEi specs are all over the place, half leather, no half leather no sunroof, sunroof, alloys, trims. In fact, the 94 SEi I owned, one of the few things that Didn't go wrong was the HG. They are generally reliable though, mine was just a lemon.

Hi

Thanks for the replies so far. Afraid it's not an SEi, just a lowly Si.

Here are some pictures of the car:

I'm told that it has a no tax, not mot, a large dent, quite a few scratches, a cracked windscreen and the drivers door doesn't open as the handle has broken. It was also struggling to pass the emissions last mot. It was registered in August 1994.

Twenty quid over scrap, so about £170-ish.

They are a nice shape those 3 door models, of course these days it would be called a Coupe and be 3 grand more than the 5 door model!

What a damn shame thats going over the bridge. These are nice cars but sadly just not desirable (unless you're me) These 3-doors are pretty rare as they are. If I had somewhere to keep it for a while I'd snap it up.

Got to be worth a try on ebay at scrap value, before resorting to the bridge, surely?

Sadly even in good condition these cars are pretty much worthless - hence the sharp decline in their numbers of late. Nonetheless, I like them, and would like to see if saved! If it looks ok, maybe worth putting an MOT on it before trying to sell it?

Sadly that is often more trouble than its worth

I'm a fan of these and my wife has a cabrio version but I have to say that this one is probably not worth much. Rusty doors and arches plus that dent in the rear wing mean that it would take a few quid to put right.

If you have any space, store it for a month and advertise it for breaking. You might make £50 on bits and bobs that people need, trim and lights and whatnot. Then send the rest over the bridge.

If no space, bridge immediately. It's a nice car and all, but can't see anyone creaming themselves over it.

Thanks guys, have passed your comments on to the owner and I will keep you posted of the outcome.

Gotta be worth a save being a 3 door? One day in the future, these will be making good money I reckon in my humble opinion. And not a bad drive back in the day........
