Im really looking forward to it, should be a good night with lots of new faces coming along

As one of the 'new faces' the thought occurred to me of how will we recognise each other? Should we all wear a fedora and carry a 1984 issue of Auto Trader under our arms, or is there some secret shiters sign that we make to each other?

We seem to have a deep seated connection that allows us to spot a fellow shiter within 20 paces so use the force........... Failing that ........

Last time we met in the car park next to our vehicular joy so you should be able to spot us, If its pissing down and we've headed in I think we will be one of only two large tables in the restaurant, the other being a party. If you just come along and look bewildered someone will be sure to notice you and usher you in the right direction!

Will see you all tomorrow night!!!! Mooohahahahha (best interpretation I can do of a ghoulish laugh???? Sorry)

Ah, it looks like I have tickets for the Sightseers booked tomorrow night, I booked them miles in advance and the reminder email has just plopped into my inbox. So, in my best Bannatyne,

'AHM OOT.'

Enjoy your night

Sorry, but another dropout :(:(:(

Things are not really going to plan this week, so unless I have a change in circumstances between now & tonight I'll see you shite lovers next time.

Posted

No problem but I thing Mr Campbell may have something to say about it!

We all know you've put in extra effort this year and made your costume from scratch and cant contimplate missing trick or treating round the houses!

Will hopefully see you next time!

Dumb question, but where exactly is this place?

I've used the postcode and the Crown Carveries own website to find it and the point they take you to is right in the middle of a posh new housing estate. There doesn't seem to be any sort of pub/business type addresses on Craiglinn at all from what I can see. :?

EDIT: Scrub that - Found it at the roundabout down the road....

Thats the one!

Really easy to find as its right on the main road

Ive PM'd you

Cheers, I hadn't got round to looking for it on the map till just now, and my sat nav has packed up and I was wary of disappearing into Cumbernauld's roundabout system, never to be heard from again, but it looks straightforward enough. :D

Well, I think I can say a good time was had by all. :D

Some snaps from the car park, and it WAS as cold as it looked!

There was rather a lot of fog round Cumbernauld tonight, wonder what could have caused that?.....:P

Crackin' wee night oot that was! :D Some good pics there as well from studebaker and while he went for the must longer exposure to get more light, I stuck to the Halloween principle of dark and eerie...

Love all those pictures guys. Especially loved the atmosphere we created on startup

Was a really good venue and grub was excellent for the price. Nabbed the comfy seats after eating and progressed outside for the photo-shoot without having the lights turned out on us, Bonus!

Let me know your thoughts for continuing this as the venue of choice as it is reasonably central for where people are now travelling from and really easy to find for those with no sense of direction.I have had messages from those who couldn't make it last night and it seems distance was not the issue just money and Halloween commitments. Only one more meet left for 2012 before the Christmas/New year break so let me know where you want it.

Thank you again to all that turned up, on what was a rather chilly October evening. Its good to have the chance to meet new people and talk shite of an evening instead of watching it on the TV!

Never mind all this shite car chat, on to the important stuff... How was the carvery? !!!

Pictures look great, will be there next month

Its a shame youre not closer as its turning out to be a good night.

The Maestro belongs to Stewart and his Mrs, Margaret. I dont think they are on this forum but I managed to get them to come along to this meet through the MMOC forum.

They also own an H reg which is currently off the road at the moment and getting work done to it. The H reg was actually previously owned by JAMES BOND, Yes you read that right! Margaret even brought the V5 with her to prove it as it states quite clearly on the front page this spectacular previous owner. Got to be one of the best stories of the night!

Pretty damn good I thought! 8)

I'd be quite happy if this were to be a semi permanent venue, as Hazel said it was fairly central and easy enough to get to (literally just off the M80 - no need to get involved with the roundabout-fest that is Cumbernauld) the car park was a decent size, the grub was good and they seemed quite tolerant of being invaded by a bunch of shiters!

Thanks to Hazel for organising it, hope to see you all at the next one.

Yip...Stewart is on the forum. The people with two Maestros.

A very enjoyable evening and nice to see the old cars in the car park. We'll be at the next meet if all goes well.

I noticed from the photographs that my off side light is a bit high and out of focus. Must get the blue tac out and

lower it a bit for the winter.

Good to see youve joined the forum, Thanks for coming along on Wednesday, was a great night and good to have something other than a volvo turn up

No offence to the volvo brigade but its all about diversity :)

The last meet of 2012 should be on 28th November. Dont know if our cars will be out that late in the season as the salt will probably be plentiful if the last couple of weeks are anything to go by but we will be there for the banter!

Posted

No offence taken... ! Diversity indeed. I've got a blue tailgate ffs!

I may not bring a Volvo next time then...

Posted

Well uve certainly got a few vehicles 2 choose from so I look forward 2 the inclusion of something different!

Posted

There's never enough Volvos. And it's fair to say I shall (hopefully) always attend Scotoshite in mine as rocking up in the Turdblower Diseasel Golf GEE TEE may attract more slagging / general abuse than usual. The fact that Volvo gets up to temperature within 2 minutes even during winter months has little* to do with it.

Aside from all this:

1 x Carvery - Bloody Marvellous

1 x (Semi) Permanent Central location - Excellent (even owing to it's proximity to Scum'ernau'd) however I'm still up for a wee bit of variety and the West / East idea I like - good to let the shite stretch it's legs every now and then.

Well done to Hazel for harranging everyone together for it. Looking forward to November Scotoshite already!

Get Voith to build you a gearbox for that and we may (just) accept it...

Carvery was a decent place for a meet and bloody good value. Especially as pudding wasn't disappointing either... And it was nice to meet a few new faces who were invited to stroke the Volvo's headlining, which has become something of a feature at Scotoshite meets.

Looking forward to November and thanks must indeed be passed to Hazel who has twice managed to get a bunch of errant car nuts together at the right place and time for a smashing evening.

Alas my photos were a bit shit, so have this one...

RML245 how did you fix the carpet to your roof?

I need something on the Maestro for the winter as the biscuit is out and I'm

bare from the waist up. Is it straight on the roof or is there a guide buscuit.

Be nice to see you at the next meet so I can have a better stroke of the shag pile!!!!!

Cheers

It's actually fixed to the original biscuit using glue and split pins, which seems to work remarkably well! Dunno how successful sticking carpet directly to the roof would be as it's actually quite heavy... And a pig to work with...

Should be at the next meet so you're welcome to come and have a feel. We need more carpet headliners
