Yeah, for a daily I couldn't fault it, insurance is £180 fully comp with all the extras, can't grumble at that!

The other benefit is it has a towbar, and a factory fitted dog guard which will come in handy in a few weeks.

There's a lot of Volvos on here these days. Should be called Volvoshite.

I was going to say there's too many Volvos.

Then I remembered I have one also.

Such as thing as "Too Many Volvos" can never exist. I technically have 2 now albeit one of them is a 55 seater and I usually spend a good few hours trundling about in some rather growly 65 seaters at work. Volvo commercials being just as good as the domestic breed. We have a particular example in our yard - SP07 CAO - It's about 3 months away from rolling over 900,000 miles...

Welcome! There is muchos love on here for the 740. We'll have to have a Northern Autoshiter's Volvo club or something...

aye, this seems to be the Shitroen and Vulva car club nowadays!

Heres mine, collected it saturday for £510 off ebay, but the seller refunded me £80 as I found a few problems when I arrived that he didn't list so £430 i think is good?

Its had new cambelt, new tyres, new bluetooth stereo, new brake pads, oil/filters/plugs etc couple of thousand miles ago. I think it needs the auto gearbox fluid replacing as its not cherry red, its darkish, nearing brown, and the box is a little sluggish changing, but otherwise, spot on. Tax and mot for 6 months, and a tow bar and factory dog guard.

Time to enjoy a car that's not been shockingly bodged up and full up with hidden rot..

That looks pretty smart for the money, useful old barges these things. :D

Your 740 is very similar to The Volvo:

Pawnote: Which part of near Canterbury are you from? I'm originally from a village just outside Sandwich :)

Excellent! I was there a couple of weeks ago with my father

Incidentally, I passed my driving test in Herne Bay, way back in 1995

Bloody hell 1300, that's a nice one! Should serve you well for a dog's age, that one. Best of luck.

I hope it does too, im working through all of the niggles to make a lovely motor. I have lost all interest right now in proper classics, my Triumph is the definition of bodge. Not happy.

Posted

Is the Triumph properly laid-up? If so, just leave it a few months until you run out of things to fiddle with on the Volvo, then jump back in with renewed enthusiasm. You might find you want to make a really good job of it this time round and if you really want to, chances are you will.

Or possibly not, but it must be worth a try.

Both inner wings COMPLETELY rotted through, both sills were covered over and are rotten through inside completely, A posts both rusty, drivers door w*nked, front valance bodged, fillered and rusty, both front wings held together with mastic and lots of filler, passenger rear arch non existent. I wondered why the car had a respray, it was to hide all the shit underneath it. I fecking hate bodywork bodgers, the only reason I matt blacked it was because I sanded back any rust bubbles and treated them, that was only the start. To say I was on a downer is an understatement.
