Yah!

Bellet is now being trucked to Bordeaux, and is booked on another Container ship to Bremerhaven, then London. I am PROMISED it will land at Tilbury on 15th December.

Hallelujah!

Collected from darkest Wales yesterday:

(The Saab that is -the Rekords not mine, just a joint tat-haul)

I'll tell you what its really like when I get a proper chance to look at it in daylight. Initial impressions are that it seems sound though.

Splendid thread. Those Saabs are superb cars, I briefly had a 99 which I swapped for a 900GLS.

Love these old Saabs. Here's some inspiration for you, I spotted this one a couple of years ago.

Needed another in my life- having sadly scrapped my flat fronts. Always fancied a 99 -although this spec want high on the agenda.

We'll find out shortly how good/ bad it is- but I've a fairly good feeling.

Bellel has FINALLY landed at Tilbury - confirmed! It should hopefully be de-containered in the next day or two, (apparently its been moved to Chatham because of the issue of damage?).

I should be collecting 8-13th, if its not too damaged. Frustratingly - awaiting reports. Seems I cant be there until its cleared Customs. (£81 VAT - the joys of 5%)

The Saab is now running, well ,although I've yet to rectify the failed clutch. My hunch (-hydraulics) hasnt yet been tested -as the parts ordered seem to be incompatible. More bodging.

The Gaz is also running properly, -although the cills are parlous. If I had the long shank wheelnuts needed for its new alloys, I'd be bringing it home to weld up.

Happy days

The legend grows - fingers crossed the Bellel isn't too scuffed.

Whoever is rescuing that Rekord should be on here too, by the way.

Ha.He is occasionally, kinda. Much bigger player on the blue forum..

Yah! Only 8 months for a 3 week journey. its seen more of the world than I have.

Upside is that the Shippers have waived their fee already -which gladdens the heart a little.

Might make me get on with the Bellett, too. Ace pair to have out next summer.

PS. Ask me the Bellel's 0-60 time......

I hope that is because they just have good customer service and not because they are massively guilty because they have seen the amount of damage. Good luck old boy.

Nah -they've not seen it either. No one has -its still in the container.

I'll bite... 40 secs? I think the Diesel didn't even get to 60. And yay for the landing of the Bellel of the Ballel!

Correct young Sir,

The Bellels top speed is indeed 58 mph. Excellent!

Well -its a kinda bitter sweet day.

Its here, finally - and virtually undamaged. The interior is a crisp as a sun bleached californian interior can be, so a total retrim is very high on the agenda (- you cant even sit on the seats without them breaking up), the starter motor is off (& the downpipe) so I guess there's issues there; the master cylinder is totally missing- and the roof has clearly had a vinyl peeled off. Looks like the shippers nicked the roof too -but having watched them with the forlift fitting cars into containers bound for Mauritius, I'm not suprised. Certainly an education. Frankly unbelievable.

Sadly -this is the last time you'll see the Legnum; the picture staged for the AA. 5 mins after we arrived I noticed copious smoke pouring out of the front nearside wheel well. We got it out ,but the wiring loom has melted, and I'm not going to fix it. I'm kinda sad- its been a bit like that beaten old mutt that wont lie down. I've abused the hell out of it -and its always responded well, dug in & done a good job yet returned mid 30's upwards.

Took the AA over 4 hours to get us & the Bellel home (& 2 more hours to unload) -the Legnum following 24hrs later.

And I've got flu -hell I feel rough.

Nice to see you have finally got it home Nigel. It looks pretty good so far hope to see it on the road soon

Nige, no disrespect but are any of your collecting missions ever straightforward? You must have the patience of a saint man, if it were me half the docks would have been on fire.

Looks like a good project Nigel, You plan on adding it to the collection in the front garden?

You have an interesting collection out front, Must have some understanding neighbors

Just bought a motorbike (add to the ever growing collection of) in your neck of the woods.

I think Nigel knows all about vendetta fires, Must have pissed off a few folk on his travels :?:

Why would you say that?

I dont think you know me- so find that kind of comment quite hurtful.

Posted

Why would I say what Nigel?

I know of quite a few folks you have dealt with that you pissed off!

I think I know you quite well after literally dozens of lengthy email communication over the last 6 months.

I have kept a copy of all our communications over the months, No reply to the most recent ones and don't answer the phone now either

Play the game fairly and pay your debts, Still waiting to be payed what you are due me!!!!

I have never yet been ripped off without getting satisfaction in the long run.

Its now more about principle than it is about cash.

Go do your homework on me and my dealings like I have had to do about you and yours

Ah right yeah, it's Friday. An angry little shit typing in riddles.

A public forum is not the place to get self righteous and nasty. Forget I ever made that comment. I'm sure you posting those pictures up is just what Nige wants to see.
