I’d dearly like to as it’s so local, but with so much needing to be done on the house I can’t afford to lose another day. Be a nice spectacle for sure, but I doubt there’ll be any bargains appropriate to me with current scrap prices and the local export/racing people likely to be there.I expect much of what’s there will end up at a Mildenhall pre-70 meeting…

Chrysler Avenger & Austin Maxi for me please! :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!Why does life keep tempting me so? Just when I've got the money together for my holiday next month, something like this comes along to throw a spanner in the works. There's a sidevalve Minx and a couple of pre-war Vauxhall Tens which are calling to me, and I'd love the Anglia van too but that will probably sell for a million pounds. I'm going to have to get very, very drunk on Saturday night so I'm so hung over on Sunday that I can't make it down there.

It's lucky I don't have your phone number to arrange to pick you up then, as there is just enough room in the car for one more... ;)

Weeeell... I suppose I could go but not take any money with me...

You could end up regretting that more than not going at all! :o

Very true, but I doubt I'd end up regretting either of the above more than going and taking my chequebook with me...

I am planning to go (breakdowns nervous or mechanical notwithstanding). I paid off all my Credz cardz last week. Oh dear. Could get messy. There's a load of Rootes grot that would look smashing dumped in the barn wit' t'others.

Yo Pog! If you see owt that you think I would like, just get it, i'll square you up next week. CHEERZ

Possibly the most dangerous quote ever read on this forum...My brain translated that as "Hi, I'm Mr Bollox, I like old cars. Please buy them for me. I have money."

wow! this is about 20 minutes away from me.Iv'e got no shite budget right now, but I'm thinking this is a must see.

CHRIST!!!! That's absolutley ASTONISHING!! If only I had acres of space and a bottomless well of cash!! Anyone know the full story? Who put them all there, and why? Wonder what sort of nick they're in? The Mk 1 and 2 Cortinas would be my 1st choice, but will probably go for stupid money.

Are we all ABSOLUTELY sure its on sunday? The Eriswell barns website states that auctions take place on a Saturday.

My choice would be the chrysler avenger. If only...

Doors open 8 - sale starts 10 apparently. It looks like they are all on site, as I can see the auction barn in the background on some pics one of the retro-riders took yesterday (friday).http://retrorides.proboards86.com/index ... read=42593

"what's a nice lady like you doing in a place like this?"

Assuming there's still some floor left, this is gonna go for MEGA MONEY.

Why do old Cortinas make so much money? Forgive me if I remember them as very average cars depriving a foundry of a good feed. Surely there are more deserving cars to save than some manky Cortina Estate?

Oldskoolford tax I guess :|

I guess you could ask the same question of any "classic" that was once just your average family car. Why Escorts, for God's sake? It must be something to do with their initial popularity and hence being fondly remembered, plus inherently good looks, and then that ceratin "something" that some cars have, and some just don't. The automotivce equivalent of charisma.

The automotive equivalent of charisma.

and then there's the Carisma (Mitsubishi) the automotive equivalent of having none.

Been, seen, sunburnt! If I had a wad in my pocket. the 2 NSU Ro80's would have been mine.God only knows what I would have done with them.Saw a lot of faces I recognised, some for the wrong reasons but one pleasant supprise was Dom, an ex colleage who stumped up £320 for the green Mk1 cortina which he intends to hill climb. Dunno if he was brave or stupid. Tis a fine line.

Take it there was nothing for a 'tontops' then?

The wasn't much that could be put back on the road very easily!"tontops" wasn't my first choice of username, but I had no end of problems getting registered.Initially, just after the Sierra that lasted a day, and the Rover 600 that lasted 2 weeks I went for "Captain Calamity"

Well there is already a user 500tops. Well on Retro Rides anyway, if not here, but pretty sure I've seen them on here.
