Anyone want my 607?

Operation Sell My Shite finally ground into motion this week after several weeks of trying - the Scimitar got picked up on Tuesday, and the C-Class and Audi went today - the C-Class to MiniDan on RR, the Audi via Gumtree. A chap also came to look at the CX, but decided against taking it on, so I've bunged it on the Bay.

Anyway, next to go is the 607, now I've finally got the V5 through for it. It's a 2.0 HDI on an 02 plate, tested till October and taxed till the end of June. It's done a lot of miles (214K) but still drives fine - I bought it from Brum and drove it back with no issues, and I've been using it fairly regularly since then.

It has a few issues, none of them life-threatening - it has a few scratches etc. as befits its mileage, a minor ding next to the front grille, and the interior could do with a valet. It also flashes up a number of spurious warnings - tyre pressures (due to sensors not being reset I would imagine), brake fluid level (again a sensor issue as there's plenty of fluid in there), fuel cap open, and I think that's about it. Also, the driver's door window needs a new motor, and the driver's side rear window doesn't work either - both passenger side windows do though. And the passenger side door mirror is a bit battered, but still on the car.

Other than that most of the electrics seem to work - remote locking, climate control (aircon seems to be reasonably cold too), cruise control, stereo, auto lights, auto wipers, front and rear fogs, etc. The trip computer works and although there are a few lines of dead pixels on the screen it's still perfectly legible. It's a very comfortable car to do long distances in, and although the engine isn't the most powerful or refined of units, it keeps up with the traffic OK and the car is well enough soundproofed that the diesel rattle doesn't intrude too much. Gearbox is all OK, there's an occasional noise from the front anti-roll bar drop links but other than that steering and suspension are all in good order.

Here's a couple of pics; will take moar tomorrow, weather permitting.

Got to be worth £800? I've seen non-runners with no T&T make more than that on the Bay.

The battery is probably flat in one or more tyre pressure sensors. About 10 years is the max for them.

Good news: the sensors are only £30 on ebay

Bad news: you need special tools to program them in

Good news (possibly): I have the tools

The tyre pressure sensors are well worth having as I have had two punctures on my 607 since owning it and both times the sensors allowed me to stop and put the spare on before the tyre was ruined, so despite having to pay for new sensors they have paid for themselves already.

The displays used to be a problem (a £400 problem) but I notice that BBA Reman has started an exchange program. The ones with two buttons are common with the 307 I think so cheap enough but the ones with satnav and no buttons like mine are the problem.

These things are superb for wafting about in if you do a lot of long distance motoring. Stable, quiet, comfortable and economical. Around town they are a bit big, and they are a complex machine.

I'm glad to hear someone else actually saying something positive about tyre pressure sensors.

On the Renault Forums everyone's attitude is "just pay Renault £30 to have the system deactivated, then you'll have no more problems". On the Mégane in particular with it's big 17" wheels, I wouldn't have known about the puncture if it wasn't for the system. The problem is when ignoramus tyre fitters replace the perfect valve with a rubber one for no reason as I had one do this week :twisted::twisted::twisted:

I'm very happy with my shopping trolley thank you very much. At least I can fix it if it goes wrong!

On the other hand, the 607 is an absolute steal at that price!
