If she/he uploads some pictures and it looks ok then do you think a trip to the Forest Of Dean could be on the cards for you Alpus?

Yes certainly something I should consider, but it's trouble getting it home! I have to admit I only know a little when it comes to mechanics and I can't weld! We'll see! Thanks for the link!

I usually use Uship to punt out collection work too, as your in Buckinghamshire thats not silly far from the Forest Of Dean you could probably get that collected and delivered for a shade under £100.

I have emailed her so I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks you for the link so much! I'll probably get it delivered if I go for it. This may be a very interesting week, I'll just have to wait and see. I wonder how much it will cost me to fix it up?

Many thanks

Wow you must have some kind of karma, apart from Mr. Bickles thats only the second one I have ever seen on e-bay!!

Hope it gets saved!

I have found this site useful there are some helpful people, although the language barrier can be a bit of an issue!!

This is mine, although I have resprayed the doors since! It needs a few jobs currently including some welding to the nearside sill before the next MOT but has given me 18 months trouble free motoring and I have been all over the country in it!!

I have considered going to France, but the language problem and import rules baffle me. There seem to be quite a few in Holland too. There was even one for sale in Denmark, some in Spain and the ex Yugoslav countries. Are you happy with it though The Organist?

Yes I had always wanted one and I love it. I must admit this particular one would not have been my first choice! I really fancied a GTL or a TS, or maybe a phase 1 model! The guy who I bought this one from was the first person to reply and he spoke very good english (he does a lot of business in the UK).

It is a little shabby and needed a bit of welding but was not too rotten, mechanically it is good with a smooth engine. The interior is probably the worse, I would really love to get some red TL seats to replace mine. Its a really capable car and surprised me and even more so surprised my modern car owning friends. It is often the first choice for long distance journeys!!

Here is the thread I started when I had it delivered. I had a few problems but they were down to this particular car and also my own naievety. I definately would like to get more cars from France and would recomment it.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I WANT R14. Due to having been ferried about in an orange '77 TL from birth until I was about seven years old. Their apparent fragility and general quirkiness does worry me a bit though, if I got my mitts on one it would have to be practically showroom-fresh. Preferably RHD too which narrows the choice down a bit!

There are some very tidy ones in France which go for four figure sums. I think if they have survived this long they are generally okay! I suppose if they are welded and repaired properly then that gives them a sporting chance.

I think they are quite tough mechanically, mine has done 155,000 kms and seems in pretty good shape (touch wood) but it was still being serviced by the local Renault Garage!!

I would love to know how many UK market RHD ones are left, I know of four now after that one on e-bay has appeared. IIRC Regie Ritmo told me he was storing three for other people not including his own one, if thats correct that would make seven.

Regie only has the one 'S' plate one. He does have a spare interior for it though -does that count?

Thanks NIgel,

My memory must be playing tricks on me.

I did ask about his spare interior, but he never replied!

Guys, reality has just hit me and my dad advised me not to go for it. We don't have space nor can I fix cars. Imagine.... the floor will be completely rotten. It would cost me over £2,000-3,000 just to get it back on the road! The engine turns as she stated, but will probably not start up. Maybe one of you guys can buy it! I am really disappointed, but my Clio will just have to do. :( Nigel are you interested in another perhaps?

Well not quite, hiiting me lol. He liked the idea of getting one, but he has restored a load of MK1 Cortinas in his time and knows what he is talking about! I wonder what Brian Bedonde would say?

Bahh Bo Beno Borbeen Bahhhhh!

I would buy it if I had £350, although I would probably have to move to another area as I think my neighbours would have a few comments to make!

No expert but I would not imagine it would cost that much to fix! Maybe you could ask her to send you some pictures of the floor or underneath?

You know what, in a perverse way I'm glad I put 100 miles of sea between me and the English mainland back in July 2007. If I was still living in Leicester I'd be A-framing that up the M5 right about now while trying to work out what the hell I was going to do with it.

To think, I sold my 14 to Regie for £80 (with tax and MOT). £350 seems a lot for that blue one.

I've never been much of a wheeler dealer.

Oh no, what 'ave I done?....

Just gone up to £122.00 now.

I agree £350 seems steep. I think Mr Bickle paid something like £80 for two in 2010. Unfortunately I feel that the only people likely to pay that are a real enthusiast or more likely a banger racer. I am sure turning up at a race with a Renault 14 will really earn some kudos.

Unfortunately it is £200 too much for me at the moment especially with mine needing some work and the Maxi to get on the road.

I know a certain C Salter (who's been looking for a 14 for years) is bidding on this...

Excellent, I hope they are successful.

I have heard from the seller and they told me that they would accept £275 for it (this was relating to the Gumtree advert).

If he does buy it Mark, hopefully he can introduce himself on here.

Aye. I believe Mr Salter would fit in very nicely around here given his tastes! I came very close to deciding to buy his Italian-spec Mk1 BX. The interior alone was something to die for. Beige and brown and very odd. Lovely.
