Pete-M Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 My 604 is up for grabs. Here are some pictures of it, and some more of Kromer. It's solid, will soon have had a fresh mot and a "get it going" service. It will need paintwork if you want it more than "presentable". The paintwork on it is unimpressive and two different shades of metallic red, but it's covering lots of fresh metal with a ton of top quality welding done by a reputable firm. The o/s/r was full of filler when it was boughtAll the rot has been cut out and new metal let in, but the covering layer of filler isn't magnificent. If I was keeping it, I'd want to do it again and repaint the whole car. The metallic red isn't the original colour, as you'll see later it was originally metallic green. Fresh outer and cover sills, lots of front floor repairs, and rebuilt rear inner wings. No bodges, rot cut out and fresh metal let in. Properly. The paintwork may still be saved but at this moment there's no guarantee of that. There's a new front valance with it,sprayed by the same painter as the sides. not fitted that yet. There are still a few blisters here and there on the upper body to sort at your leisure / when they eventually become holes. Interior isn't bad.Unbelievably comfy brown velour seats are good but the drivers one needs a bit of stitching. A few cracks here and there in the plastics. Door trims could do with a bit of work on the vinyl at the very least. Engine sounds sweet, runs well, has a new starter and seems to pull well judging by my few test runs at the Autoshite Cheshire top secret testing facility.I will report more when it's up and on the road. No service history, but it was looked after by one garage for the best part of 25 years. It has done around 160,000 miles but the speedo was replaced 980ish ago. Alloys are 15" 604 GTi jobs, so not metric. It still has the handbook. Tyres have plenty of tread but are probably six or seven years old. Chrome is good on the bumpers. All the shocks and springs were replaced a few years ago as this car was built to heavy duty / Australian spec and the previous owner put European spec springs and shocks on to make it ride as it should. It's bloody comfy. It will be MOTd in the next few weeks, then up for grabs so I thought I'd give you lot first refusal and a heads up before it stumbles into the Ebay classifieds where it'll start at £1500. SambaS Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Beautifut that, I hope it finds another good home!
eddyramrod Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 That looks like a lovely thing to have as a daily! Are you sure you can't wait six months?
Pete-M Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 That looks like a lovely thing to have as a daily! Are you sure you can't wait six months? It would be a lovely daily. However, after 25 years of non-stop old car ownership I'm flogging all my cars. Lost interest. Can't be bothered with old cars any more. I might buy something nice in a few years but right now I'd rather sell the lot, buy one car I like and move away from the car 'scene' completely.
Pete-M Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 If howmanyleft is right then from what I can gather this may well be the only RHD STi left in the UK. Mad that.
Volksy Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 As mentioned to Pete before I would love this, sadly my shite budget is tied up in a certain Lancia at the moment - and could be for a while. I think there is one other one that I know of - in Leeds too, but has been laid up with a load of other silver barges for a long time now. Edit: Heres a streetview pic of it.

You'll be back once that first expensive repair bill comes in!.
Pete-M Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Cars are great things, but they've taken up way too much of my time over the years. I feel it's time for a change, hence flogging the fleet off. Current state of play is as follows. Pug, awaiting final MOT fettling and then for sale. Looks like it'll be the only MOT'd RHD one then....Jeep - in use daily, will be used for Escort collection from Czech and then for sale.Jag - Not been used since December, awaiting fettling and a fresh MOT then for sale.Senator - MOT tomorrow, use for a few weeks then for sale.Escort - Get it here, do a few shows etc, enjoy for a while then either 2.0 Zetec and enjoy more, or sell. They will quite probably all be replaced by a Legnum VR-4 (UK spec) auto, which will be 'my car'.
M'coli Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 While I respect, and understand, your desision, I don't think I will be the only one to:1) wish you good luck with it2) miss your contributions - you have enrichened my knowledge greatly! & 3) will await your return, if, and when, it happens. Have a great time, Pete, we'll miss you - but don't let that stop you!
boobydoo Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Best of luck with the sale! That's a nice , rare old thing. Hope it finds a good home.
Pete-M Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 Have a great time, Pete, we'll miss you - but don't let that stop you! Oh, I'll still be knocking around in 'ere. Just not buying random stuff anymore. This is the Legnum. Not 100% "my kind of thing", but it's a nice one and should be reasonably useful.
Largactil Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 The 604 is rather fantastic - And has me cursing my empty bank account, and lack of storage space. Good luck with the sale - Hope it goes to someone who appreciates it!
wuvvum Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I do like Legna. So much classier-looking than Legacies, and probably more reliable too.
sporty-shite Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 While I respect, and understand, your desision, I don't think I will be the only one to:1) wish you good luck with it2) miss your contributions - you have enrichened my knowledge greatly! & 3) will await your return, in a few weeks, when you inevitably find yourself drawn to buying some rare and obscure chod that you've "always fancied" Have a great time, Pete, we'll miss you - but don't let that stop you! Lufthansa-Terminal Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Looks a cool car (and Cat) good luck with selling as I cant believe its not sold via here.
eddyramrod Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Are you sure you can't wait 6 months Pete? Oh well, have to hope you like the Senator enough to get that long out of it.... Actually.... when are you expecting the Escort to be ready? I could see myself enjoying the Jeep....
Pete-M Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Escort should be ready in May, all going well.
