And my work got one of these from Aldi a couple of years ago. They are bloody excellent value for money, really tough and powerful.

I've got one of these as have half the fellers in the office where I work. mine's still in its box, but they swear by theirs, 'FOOKIN BARGAIN' etc

Can't say anything about the compressor, but the "3" Air Cut Off Tool" they sell for 9 quid is dead handy. The "air shears" are ok but a bit cumbersome.

the "Air Filter Regulator" looks useful. I have a 2.5hp compressor already but I need to plumb it in.

I think the 'special buy' stuff is around till it's sold out or they need to make room for the next lot, ie. the following Thursday.

Websites says it's 'Sundays Special Buys' - just been to our local one - not a sign of any of it. Looks like a Sunday morning trip.

You will NEVER paint a car properly with a compressor that size - you will exhaust the compressed air in no time.

 

To do a proper job you would need one with at least 150 L capacity.

 

You will find that garages do not use small compressors for a reason - they are not up to the job.

My manager has an Aldi-sourced compressor similar to the one in the link, which he bought a few years ago. He has nothing but praise for it. If I can be bothered to get up before my local Aldi closes today (I've just finished a night shift), I might buy one

Still worth having though for £80, even if its just for pumping up tyres and blasting stuff clean. And, its perfectly OK for less ambitious paint-related tasks.

I'm hoping that a compressor like this will be good enough for a touch up gun / mini gun. I have one of those DeVilbiss "startingLine" guns which says that it will work with a small compressor.

 

Presumably a smaller gun just takes longer.

 

Anyway I'll only be spraying one or two panels at a time rather than a whole car.

That size compressor WILL spray a car, it will just be running constantly. It won't however, run high consumption tools like orbital sanders

I went this morning and bought a filter / oiler and a rattle gun.

The compressors look a good bit smaller than mine, maybe mine has a 50 litre tank.

The filter/oiler are attached together by the wall bracket.

I'm guessing that I can separate them and mount them separately joined with a short hose.

That way I could plug straight into the filter when spraying, and plug in the oiler and go through that when using other air tools.

 

Is that what people normally do?

 

I'm hoping that the oiler only contaminates things that are plugged in after the oiler and that it doesn't "back contaminate?

 

Though at the price of these things in Aldi it might just be cheaper to go and buy two, and just dumper the second oiler

I bought the air took kit and the cut offtool this morning. I fancied the rattle gun but didn't wan't to take the hit all in one go.
