@egg mine is pretty playworn, missing bumpers etc, but overall not bad. Would be happy to sell or trade for something if you're interested (if I can find it)5203695977_274ce38d1a_o.thumb.jpg.c3f4e1234220a34c857f70f0527b3f55.jpg

some recent additions, all vintage matchbox.

first off an Albion Chieftain, carrying a load for Blue Circle.

not bad for a wagon from the late 1950s.

20210824_092116_resized.thumb.jpg.015e4c622170d44848f99aca507560ba.jpg20210824_092122_resized.thumb.jpg.76e4f79d9da44b177a11c1de62ca9416.jpg

and then i have been able to add a Thames Trader with a cattle wagon trailer, complete with tail board. oddly, unlike the contemporary Bedford articulated wagon, and the Mack road-train thing which all seem to have lost one or more of the back doors off the trailers, these seem to appear more often or not in a complete condition.

20210824_092134_resized.thumb.jpg.498b1ba419102faaf61a1faf1f6eacbe.jpg20210824_092141_resized.thumb.jpg.cce14a41f60817beb506d0e45fac0e55.jpg20210824_092149_resized.thumb.jpg.6bf8487219e05a1f60dd52c9ea09a8e6.jpg

also shown is the increase in size from Matchbox, from the first series of the  1/75 toys and the early major pack models, even though there is only 5 or so years between them going on sale.

20210824_092154_resized.thumb.jpg.de414789777bc622740634f4141907ca.jpg

thing is though, i am starting to run out of space again.

i guess the answers to that are either stop buying so much crap, or find another display cabinet. one of them is a good plan, the other, unacceptable........

Picked up in a charity shop in Brixham, mainly because nothing else diecast-ish in that High Street at all, despite trying multiple stores...  yes, things have got that bad.  Desperation.

The tin snail is a Solido, Gamma is a Majorette, blue Fuego is Solido and the pinkish one a Norev - for reasons best known to the French modelled with the wipers up the screen. Espace ambulance is a Guisval and the commercial bits are Lone Star. Now I have something to tug my red fuel tanker around if I can find it

Posted

The Lancia is a Lybra

Funnily enough, my own Fuego bust a wiper motor spindle all of 30 years ago.  It left the driver's wiper arm upright permanently.

You have to laugh. New Hot Wheels 5 pack out with yet another MK1 Escort. Mate jumps the gun and pays £15 for one off eBay. An hour later i walk into Smyths and buy one for £6.99

Whilst wandering about Hitchin on Saturday, spotted this for £280 in one of the cabinets

WP_20210821_13_43_16_Pro.thumb.jpg.19efa21c55c6f8873b3b77782f77f768.jpg

£280 might seem a lot, but Hitchin property has exploded in value in the past 18 months and any mid-terrace two-up two-downs are for £450k+.

So if the property goes up, so do the toys...

What I also do know is when we dithered buying a property there 10 years ago, we made a major mistake.

Mortal remains. Maybe Lone Star were trying to muscle in on Tonka territory?

Also very similar to this Qualitoys by Corgi I acquired recently

A pairing that will no doubt be unrepeatable

From the same Hitchin charity shop precinct on Saturday:  A TALBOT and an ALFA

20210822_131522026_iOS.thumb.jpg.36ece65106510293c27db3d540315523.jpg

Both of them do have opening things in common

20210822_131542182_iOS.thumb.jpg.f7b1b76ecbcc91c2d9a9aa345c0607f4.jpg

But very little else

The ALFA had 6,082cc and (with this body) you could reach 86mph whilst wearing a big hat

The Talbot had 2664cc and you could reach 121mph, without a hat.  But it did have the benefit of brakes on the front wheels as well.

There genuinely isn't much I miss about my old life, but Wednesday mornings at that boot sale is one of those things. (Disposable income and Andreea's thighs in over-tight shorts being two of the others, just off the top of my head. But I digress..) That was where your Lone Star finds at the top of this page originated, it pleases me to see they're still doing slow laps of Essex

Today's arrival is this 1:33 scale Guisval MK3 Escort. Pretty sure it's missing a pair of spotlights, but so were a lot of XR3s in the 80s

Found someone selling what seems like their old toys on Gumtree, it was as a job lot of around a hundred cars plus a load of crap old annuals, a metric shitload of board games, a big trak and various other shit. I’ve made an offer for the diecast, I don’t want the other stuff as it would just be a PITA to sell on.

First of all, I'm aware this isn't really shite. But I also don't have any other forums that I'm in that have a diecast thread.

I didn't realise quite how much some of these things go for.  Who knew!

I have one of these. Won it in a raffle along with a Toyota hat (Bear in mind, I have an MR2, so was very happy with the hat). It's 1:43 apparently.

1-38-Spark-Model-Toyota-Yaris-WRC-2017-W

I thought it was just some cheesy car in a box, promotional thing from Toyota.

Didn't realise these sell for between £60 and £70 and will go up in value, because they're no longer produced. Worth much more than the hat 🤣

If he would be a laugh to mess about with and ridicule it’s ‘state of the art technology’ but they wanted £250 for all the whole shebang, which in all honesty I couldn’t see much mileage in getting that back, given the cars were about a quarter of the whole haul I made an offer on the cars alone. There was some tidy stuff in there, regular wheels, loads of sixties Corgi and above all a Spot on Multipla. But at £250 I’d have been left with a load of shit I definitely didn’t want plus I’d have probably about made the money back so hardly worthwhile.

Plus explaining to the wife I’d dropped £250 on old crap, simply couldn’t face that.

There were a just over a hundred cars but realistically I’m not going to bust someone’s balls whose selling their childhood collection off. If they were asking a ton or so then there would be a drink in it lets say for the cars but I did say I was happy to make an offer for the cars alone and left it with them. Perhaps I should have just gone ‘best price 2nite m8 swop 4 hot wheels’. But I’m not a twat like that so.
