I thought that looked like a Springwell moulding - I remember them through to the early 1990s, usually in seaside shops alongside buckets and spades. Nice big things

I think Pandora's box has been opened.  Found this variant.

Why oh why do I let that Google Monster search things.   Won't sleep now

BUT!   Having so many red spares does mean there is the *ability to MAKE A CLONE

Hell yes. Looking forward to seeing that one finished! Tasteful guards red 80s 'looker or OTT graphiced 80s 'looker?

I need to look through my 1980s copies of Street Machine and early Volksworlds for inspiration. The red SM project car was one I particularly remember.

I don't enjoy masking so the paint scheme won't be anything too wacky.

Just finished polishing the Skyline's paintwork, it's come out rather nicely and I've managed to avoid going through anywhere. With the interior and floorpan already underway it should be a quick, simple one to complete.

Really, it's another of those back-burner 'projects' intended to keep me out of the pub.

Isn't that the bus from the Happy Rotter exhibition?

It's the actual bus used in the film.  She is a major Potter fan.

Not seen the film, but makes sense! I remember papping the bus at HP World when taking a gaggle of year sixes on a summer residential. Kids loved the place.

You must have been going around the twist that day, without knowing the films 😄

Read the first couple of books when they were released and the related films. Just enough to be able to enjoy the exhibition- the suspended Anglia at the start set a pretty good precedent!

as tat wednesday has been a dead loss, and i'm not holding out much hope for tat friday either,

i present "new additions Thursday" just, well, just because.

first i present the Matchbox Karrier Bantam full of very sugary fizzy pop.

20210422_112314.thumb.jpg.d77f70f71fe75e623cb53e74e253c8f0.jpg

20210422_112320.thumb.jpg.d4653b4437896341533b666803e19a0f.jpg

and then we have this, a Lesney Vauxhall Victor 101? estate,

20210422_112306.thumb.jpg.18dee4bb2443a4742170df0b3e28dfc2.jpg

slightly later than the Karrier, this one has an opening tailgate, and contrasts with the larger, tidier Dinky that was already in the collection.

The Dinky also has an opening tailgate.

20210422_112347.thumb.jpg.d0cccb4c81097ee48f82336a119774c3.jpg

than finally i got this, a Lesney Mark X Jaguar,

20210422_112327.thumb.jpg.1f729925f9f502e1ef559c6f9259b99b.jpg

this  too has an opening feature,

20210422_112337.thumb.jpg.c4f6da006a187a2a41c96c45e7d69d95.jpg

the  the massive bonnet hinges forward which is nice, and compared with the Husky Mark X, i think Matchbox did it better. Oddly the Matchbox, like the Husky also features suspension, which is not something i have seen on a Matchbox before, certainly not one of this period!

was going to detail the front sidelights and indicators, but the Playart bumper is different to the Corgi and isn't fully defined

which I noticed when I had them all out. Forgot I had two Magnet Southerns Playarts as well as the third I customised

there are still at least two Corgis and a Playart I haven't found. Madness...

Something about the proportions of this Five Winder 928 is off, but I can't quite work it out

A couple of arrivals from yesterday

These two came from the same seller20210422_193711.thumb.jpg.e88ea9cf1c4d445cda39139452fa3c9b.jpg

The Lotus was bought so I could put the doors & interior on the one I got last week, the other one because I was just curious what it was 🤔20210422_193732.thumb.jpg.f59c13145de20d437a4b6bf1b96419a9.jpg

The base has HW 308 on it,not sure if the stickers are original?20210422_193801.thumb.jpg.bc58a711466b277b247a25594585a03d.jpg

This was the other lot,I couldn't resist the Capri 😁20210422_193848.thumb.jpg.1c7ee49aa8136c982469d0f8ac9a97ec.jpg

It's got odd wheels,& has had the B pillars removed20210422_193901.thumb.jpg.afad49673d7ee845ea601eea51b1fd8b.jpg

I wonder what engine is in it?20210422_193926.thumb.jpg.d9fdc31a238654ff1a35f51677fdeec3.jpg

🙁,I really like the paint though

20210422_193911.thumb.jpg.95b778296d5bc1d5e85864714e89cce5.jpg

The interior is from something else,so I'll probably get a scrap Capri for the interior & engine.I'll either cut the side windows out to make it pillarless,or put some pillars back in.

A quick swap around,& I've got a complete Lotus for not much less than I could have bought one for 😂20210422_215954.thumb.jpg.db8c16d129da25e01727303f6289baa0.jpg

I need to make some axles for a 1/43 car, I’ve been advised to use 0.8mm brass rod, is this correct?

It depends on the size of the centre bore of the wheels you've chosen?

Or have I missed something

TatiExpress for me too today!  Super-quick postage, considering the distance and cheapness of the carriage - i.e. 'free postage'

Also suffered the bendy cards, but I am not complaining because I have saved 1) the petrol money, by not scouting three counties of Tescos, 2) the planet, by not burning the petrol by scouting three counties of Tescos in vain

No, I’ll be crimping them to hold the wheels on if that makes sense?
