Shite in Miniature II

Transit and Mondy are my favourites of that little lot. Very nice indeed.

I've seen those Ranger pickups you mention; if the detail is anything like as good as the Cougar from the same manufacturer, I might well be tempted. I mean, heaven knows why I want a model Ford Ranger, I have neither the money, the space nor the need. But I'd rather have one than not have one.

We had the Rangers (and Cougar) when they were available over here. Both were GR9 and the Ranger was massively popular. Had the 1/43 mk1&2 Mondeos in stock until a month or two ago as well...

Just to bring a story to a close; I bought some of RedSparrow's Skoda models. Here they are in their new home and with the rest of the collection.

MB was an eBay purchase some time ago. It has seen better days but it is an original Czechoslovakian toy; as are the 2x S100s and the 1203 pick up which I just bought.

The ship is a Lego Maersk ship. A limited run they did a few years ago. Last year they released a more detailed scale version of the Triple-E class. I've long since wanted one but haven't bought one due to cost. The Good Lady however presented me with one on Christmas day and now I have my own fleet:

Wow, that looks lovely.

If I was a picky bugger I'd say it needs some black dropped between the wheel spokes, they look a bit cheap and at odds with the rest of it which is gorgeous, and one of my favourite car/colour combos.

And I am a picky bigger, so I will say it.

I will probably change the wheels on it when it arrives

I agree about the wheels actually. It's a really nice model but the wheels do let it down slightly, a bit more detail would have been nice but it's still very good . That said models of Mk4 Escorts are proper rare so you should all go and buy one now

Neo did the estate version of the mk4, but that was about £60 iirc

This is clearly the Brazilian partwork casting re coloured, the dead giveaway is the square numberplates on it, but it's at a sensible price. It will be interesting to see what other manufacturers such as WB hit us with in 2015

Posted

Whitebox are using the same castings from the same Chinese factory as IXO / Altaya so a lot of the range does seem to reuse castings that have been issued as partworks previously but thats no bad thing.

I'm hoping they might get some of the stuff they've announced for 2014 out before hitting us with too much new stuff. Been a very popular range though.

Speaking of Lego, my wife got me this large Mini Cooper for Xmas. I'd wanted it ever since I saw it in the window of the Lego shop in Glasgow. Its proper ace, picnic hamper in tje back with cheese and what looks like Bombay Sapphire.

Love that Lego Mini :) I got some more Lego for my birthday from SWMBO, its one of the brand new sets for 2015, and is a dropside pickup with crane on the back, with a trailer & portaloo!

Posted

Well worth it. I thought people would look at me funny when I told them that I got Lego for Xmas but everyone said they wished they got something like that instead if a hat, gloves and scarf.

Posted

That Mini set is going to be very hard to come by very quickly, and will command a premium price very shortly, just like the Veedub camper

Posted

i got the mini coop for xmas and i was surprised by the number of extra pieces left over, so, mine now has a "clock" next to centre dash vent  taller rocker cover and brake & clutch reservoirs under bonnet

i also thought the bonnet stripes were in the wrong place so they were moved inwards one row

Posted

Yeah I had thise pieces too and wondered what to do with them. I'll get my mini book out to sew how I can make the fluid reservoirs etc!.

More shite has arrived at Chez Felly, the XR3i from Monsieur Lobster of this parish, and a Cortina Mk3 via a fb group I'm on for a very good price

The wheels actually don't look too bad up close. it means I now have 3 Escort XR3's in my collection. And it arrived less than 48 hrs from ordering. :)

It's the cheapo Haynes one with RS style side decals, fog lights from a Cararama Capri, and photo etched wipers

It's been tits cold this past week, and its only going to get worse as winter draws in. So, where big chod is too outdoors and chilly, little chod prevails!

Those up for restoration are:

Golf MK1

Vw T2 pop top

Renault 17 TS

Sunbeam Alpine

Fraud Crapi

And... For Mr Lobster himself... a blue Renault 4 van

All are going to be restored, but colour suggestions are appreciated, so that preferably they are all scale replicas of real cars on Autoshite.
